rock (and steel) pokemon are notoriously defense-based and like. thick-skinned. so do they really feel touch as well as other pokemon?

also i used voice command to remind me to post this and it came up with "Dubroff Pokémon feel friends" like ok siri

    Probably not the poor things.

(after the saxophone thread + the title of this thread i was like "is aquacorde ok??")

what if they don't necessarily FEEL but there's like a vibration aspect of it that let's them know that you are touching them???

Good question, really. Since they have moves like Rock Polish and Autotomize, we have to assume that their skin (and possibly deeper into their body too) isn't very sensitive and can be chipped and scratched without the pokémon feeling pain (Normal-type moves aren't effective, for example). I'd assume they don't feel simple touch as well as others, no. Give them extra wet kisses and strong hugs c:

EDIT: what angie said also, yeah it of course depends on the pokémon's build. If they seem to be made from steel or boulders (like Aggron, Skarmory, Geodude, Roggenrola etc), then that's what I was thinking about above.

are rocks actually soft but when we touch them they harden up?

seriously though, i see them as having defensive layers of rock/steel so i'd say no. actually, when you pet them in pokémon refresh they react sooo idk!

Funnily enough, I've had a thought for this topic recently due to some dental problems I have. Basically, I believe we're not necessarily talking about rock and steel type Pokemon, but something more like the mineral egg group, which consists mostly of Pokemon that look like they're made of stone or steel. I thought these Pokemon could have bodies that are similar to a tooth, with hard enamel-like material on the outside and nerves inside them. If a Pokemon with such a body has their hard surface worn out or chipped off, they could feel pain when their nerves are exposed.

Maybe this could explain why rock type Pokemon dislike water so much. They avoid water to prevent erosion and exposure of the nerves, like how a tooth should avoid carbonated drinks. XD

They ones that are made of rock or metal might not. It's not like it's necessary to have a sense of touch if you have other senses that can let you move around and survive. I imagine they might be able to feel temperature changes or vibrations or something like that, but maybe that's all as far as touch goes.
