Do you 'Mark' your pokemon?

I use it in Sinnoh to find Pokemon easily.

Nah I don't really bother marking them. I can usually keep track of things myself ^_^

Nope. I have no use for it.

It seems there are 2 primary uses for 'Marks'.
  1. breeding
  2. favorite/special
And the ever popular, "Why bother?"

I separate my favorites into boxes. Like I have an "EEVEE" box & two "STARTERS" boxes, but that's for another thread.

This belongs better in Pokémon General because it can apply to Gen III as well, so I'll move it there.

*moves*
FYI - I considered posting in the General thread. Thanks for the move.

I use each symbol as a marker for whether or not a poke is EV'd. Each one corresponds to a stat, marking it means it's EV'd in that stat and usually jogs my memory of the exact spread. Alternatively on a baby it marks a perfect IV.

I used to mark my Pokemon, but I eventually stopped. This is how I used to mark them:

Heart: Highest stat = HP
Triangle: Highest stat = Attack/Spl.Attack
Square: Higest stat = Defense/Spl.Defense
Circle: Highest stat = Speed
Diamond: Obtained in trade
Star: Legendary

For my favorites that I use all the time, I mark with a heart. :)

Also, sometimes, for ones I got in a trade that I couldn't believe my luck, a star. :D

I used it when I first got my Diamond version to separate my specially bred Pokémon from my normal ones. Naturally, I messed up and it hurt my head so I never bother fixing the marks nor did I try to use them again.

From left to right, I mark my Pokemon for the following reasons:

(1)-Pokemon has been bred with all the right stuff
(2)-Pokemon is finished EV training
(3)-Pokemon is fully evolved with a complete moveset
(4)-Overused
(5)-Borderline
(6)-Underused

That way I use the search function on the touch screen to only make fully trained UU Pokemon light up when I want a UU battle, for instance.

This is why I have sometimes been known to call my fully trained Pokemon "3Stars." XD

When you are using Bebe's PC there is an option to Mark the pokemon with a shape.
And Lanette's PC for that matter.

I don't use it... at all. I just keep the Pokemon I use often or breed with in seperate boxes from the rest (at the end of the list so that it doesn't become filled with captured Pokemon).

Same here. I use the actual boxes as an organization system, completely neglect the marks.

Marking

My marks depend on the Level of the Pokemon.

The original marks from 3rd gen are the levels and the new marks are: star is legendary or shiny and the other is normal Pokemon.

from left to right marks the levels
lvl 10 is left one lvl 20 is middle left 30 middle right 40 right
50 the two left one 60 the two middle ones 70 the two right ones
80 the three left 90 the three right
A level 100 would have all marks

Sounds confusing but its something I do for the sake of it.
And to find certain lvl pokemon using the thing on the touch screen

Oh, I do occasionally.
But I don't get the point.

well i use marks to keep track of my teams. my current team has heats but i'm almost done training them, so i'll move on to the star marked team :)

Not so much..
I somehow manage to keep track of all my Pokémon through memory, so I never found myself using the makers that often. I might occasionally use them to indicate which stats of my hatchlings have a flawless IV, for further breeding purposes, but more often than not I simply change it's nickname to reflect the IVs.

I use it for fun, I guess, and I also use it if I have two exact Pokemon, to see which one is which.
(Not that it ever happens)
