6th Gen Do you think Pokemon X & Y should include more Pokemons?

I was disappointed at the numbers of New Pokemon for this gen. Sure Mega-Evo was awesome, but they could've included at least more than 69 new Pokemon. Oh and not to mention the lack of Legendaries is disappointing as well. There's only 3 as of now.

Those are my only criticisms for the game. Imo, I give it a 8.5/10.

Forgot to mention: Not really digging Team Flare.

    Pokemon**
Accidentally added the 's' from the Thread title.

I actually liked that there were less new Pokemon. In previous gens, there have been so many new Pokemon and a large number of them I haven't liked at all.

This time around, I really liked only having a few new ones and I felt that the quality of the designs was improved. There were very few new Pokemon from this generation that I really didn't like.

So for me at least, it's about quality > quantity.

Quality could go into quantity if Game Freak decides to make the Pokemon enjoyable for a lot of people. New Pokemon such as Tyrantrum for example. I like this one mainly because it looks badass and he's not bad at battles too.

I'd like to see a complete Dex once Z is released. It would give people a reason to buy the new one. There are so many animals out there that haven't been used and stuff. I've thought of about 40 Fakemons, I just can't draw or anything. I think with Megas and changing types around to Faries, it made it around 150. But, as I said a new Dex and maybe more antagonists for Z would be awesome.

I think the number of new Pokémon found in XY is ok. I have a feeling that if Z is made, they will add around another 30 - 50 or so. If you haven't checked out Marriland's video on this, it's definitely worth a watch.

I'm thinking there are more pokemon on the way, we just don't know yet. But the 60 or so new pokemon are pretty good imo. As for team flare I liked their concept but sometimes I felt their pokemon teams got a little repetitive. It seemed they always had toxicroak, houndoom, manectric and swalot. I think zubat and mightyena too maybe. I felt that a little more diversity in their teams would have made for more interesting battles. But I did enjoy how fabulous they are xD

I think so too. I mean, we haven't forgotten about an upcoming event pokemon. Can't wait for the new legendaries to appear.

I think that it was about the right amount. Considering all of the new things they were adding like the Fairy type and mega evolutions, it mixed it up enough to where I didn't even care that there wasn't as many as there have been in the past.

I am fine with the no of pokemon actually. We have so many already I wouldnt have a problem if they didnt increase in the next generation actually.

In my opinion, 69 Pokemon really is a low number for a whole generation. I would've welcomed another 20 or so.
But on the other hand, I'm really glad that there are only 3 legendaries. Adding more to the already huge number of legendaries would lower the meaning of the word "legendary", if you know what I mean. The only thing I'm really disappointed in is that only 4 legendaries can be caught in the game, since I really enjoy travelling across the region in search of the epic Pokemon.

It's important to have too many Pokemon in order to increase the diversity of type specialists, so gym leaders and Elite 4 members won't have to share each other's signature Pokemon for their rosters. Korrina, for example, using a Lucario only made Maylene, whose sig Pokemon is Lucario, less unique as a Fighting specialist. Hence why we're disappointed in the total number of Kalos' Pokemon.

Introducing the missing 30+ Pokemon in a new region for Z version would only go against tradition of third version games, but at least BW2 kept the same Unova Pokemon from the vanilla version.

Last gen, I've seen a ton of people complain about too many new Pokémon being introduced. If the same happened this time around, I guess people still would have kept complaining. Though, Pinkie does have a good point; I agree with him.

I think they were trying to focus more on the mega-evolutions concept in X and Y, which could possibly be one of the main reasons for lack of new Pokémon. It'd be. really nice if they make up for it in Z version, or whatever they wish to call their third installment. d:

I will say, I enjoyed battling and training gen 6 pkmn wayyyy more than the older gen fillers. They seemed more thought out when it comes to moves+design+ability and stats, well rounded pkmn. The only one I didn't like was klefki and I actually like that one now. I'm glad they went with the smaller amount...but I do wish instead of throwing so many older pkmn in the game they would of put more evolutions of gen 6 pkmn in the wild...
No one noticed there was almost zero wild evolutions... trevenant, spewpa, that's all I can think of
    PS. Not including friend safari

I like how there are less pokemon this generation that others. In game I think it helps focus more on the older generations and the new 3d models for them. It brings back love for older generations while adjusting to a new feel of Pokemon.

69 new designs + 28 mega evolution designs = 97 total, or counting unrevealed pokemon:
    Spoiler:

In comparison, Johto introduced 100 new pokemon, in which 17 of them were related through some type of evolution to old pokemon. Just because mega evolutions don't boast their own independent Pokedex # doesn't mean that the designers don't spend a considerable amount of time designing them.

Also considerable is that the regions introduced before Johto and Kalos both had 150+ pokemon introduced with designs not based off of previous generations (the former for obvious reasons.) I actually really love this contrast: I had a lot of fun playing Black/White in an environment full of new faces, and just as much fun playing this time around in a melting pot between so many past generations pokemon. And it's that they're alternating between these 2 different experiences that made both experiences feel more fun and refreshing than the last.

Well, I wasn't dissapointed by the amount of new Pokemon. I'd like to see more Gen. 6 Pokemon in the wild tho...

Also, don't forget that they had to design all the Mega Evolution forms and all the older Pokemon before Gen. 6!

I thought the number was just right, the big problem with previous gens was the fact, they a lot of the time had similar rosters, patterns that kept repeating. I find the lack of Kalos pokemon great because they focused on more diverse typings. This allowed them to break from the norm and really make some interesting contributions to the roster.

I would like to see more Pokemon in a later re-release/sequel/whatever, but I am content with the list already presented if they don't :)

The two largest complaints about the last 2 generations were 1) Number of legends and 2) Number of new Pokemon introduced. Both of which were usually in the form of "There are too many!" while the second is split into more defined complaints as in, too many new Pokemon with outrageous stats. Too many new Pokemon with horrible stats. Too many new Pokemon that look ugly. Etc. Etc.

Lack of Pokemon this time seems to be a response to those complaints. I mean we cannot please everyone every time. Even Gamefreak is made up of humans.

Personally the only two things I dislike are 1) Fairy Type and 2) Mega Evolutions. I'm ok with the small amount of new Pokemon. 72 new Pokemon isn't that bad, the closest lowest added was like 100 with Gen 2.

Also, there won't be any "New" Pokemon added, as in brand new species. If they do its pretty much a new generation as X and Y do not have data for anything after 721. While more Mega are possible, I'd hope they realized their errors with Rotom, Giratina, Shaymin, Keldeo, and Kyurem and would have learned from this mistake for non-official competitive reasons. Lack of data from previous games makes battles between the same generation games very hard when you wanted to use those specific alternate forms. Mega Evolutions in any new game wouldn't be able to be used against the old game, forcing your set strategy to become wasted unless you only allow for battles with the newer games.
