Not entirely. I seem to get eggs at a decent speed once they get their first egg. I had to stuff eggs in the PC so I can continue getting eggs, and then hatch 'em all once I was done collecting the amount of eggs that I wanted.

Oh... But it took awhile for me to get an egg out of spearow and starly even after their first egg. But allright I think its time to keep my mouth shut about these matters lol.

Pokemon with Flame Body or Magma Armor as their Ability (Slugma, Magmortar, etc) will halve the amount of steps you have to take for the egg to hatch.

I cheated a lot in my Silver version... probably why my brother's the only one of us to have spotted a shiny since (Voltorb in his FR, which was lost after we got it out of there; and Volbeat in his Platinum). XD;

Here's what I did in my Silver version back in the day:
1. Cheated for all 8 Johto badges, therefore making the Radio Tower takeover (and a trip to Blackthorn) not happen. XD;
2. Cheated for a Shiny Celebi.
3. Abused the "cloning" glitch. Almost every waking hour of the day, and on everything. XD;
4. Number 3 most likely propagated the PokeRus (which was borked in GSC) into my file at the time... and most of my main team in the game was unusable because it corrupted them. XD;
5. Cheated for 99 of every item I had at the time. (looool, 99 Potions)

And... um... yeah... used a level 100 Jolteon to curb stomp the E4. XD
