Don't waste money on Flamethrower, Fire Blast is better :P

Accuracy is just 5 lower, PP is 10 lower (hint: use PP Ups/PP Max). And power is 25 more, in competitive battling Fire Blast is much better than Flamethrower.

Accuracy is 15 lower. Flamethrower > Fire Blast. In terms of reliability and stalling.

Now, if we're talking about something that doesn't use special moves like Flygon, then Fire Blast is a better option for dealing with Steel Types and such. Which is common nowadays.
