I try and make both the first and last names come from the same origin (Greek, Irish, etc.), and sometimes I want them to have some relevance to the character's personality. Right now in Enya's case only her last name makes sense since it means "marauder" in Irish. Other than the first character I made in a while, I used "Behind the Name" to look up names and surnames. As a result, I got these:

Rhea Marino (Greek)
Ciel Bellerose (French)
Enya Foley (Irish; ironically one of the characters in my final summer reading book has Foley as a last name, which I totally didn't intend)

When I was 10 I think I went with the simplest names o3o That or the name were Japanese because a was a terrible weeaboo back then. Nowadays I try to avoid Japanese names unless the story takes place in a Japanese setting. Even with Pokemon there's a variety of names that have different origins so I try to avoid Japanese then, too.

/also on this account because using a laptop at my library and I wanna work on that SU

Also Pokey's sound tag works on this Firefox! :D

Introducing: The Man With No Prejudices.

The Man was walking taking a night walk in his natural habitat, the African savanna.
He noticed a lioness sneaking closer.
"Gee", he said, "I've heard stories about creatures like that hunting down and eating people. I don't want to have prejudices, I mean, that would be species-ist. So running away could potentially hurt her feelings. Heck, maybe she just wants to offer me some food, or shelter, or just want a hug. That growling sounds a bit sinister, I have to admit, but why should I judge them based on the sound of their language, which I don't understand? In order to be as politically correct as possible, I guess I should greet her and communicate like was she a fellow tribemate."

The lioness had a great meal that night.

On sort of topic: Using weeaboish names is difficult to avoid for me right now, as my story HASHI! takes place in modern Japan xD;

You forgot "Moral: Prejudices are sometimes OK."

And I wanna read your story~

Geez, my head hurts trying to keep my glasses on my face. When I'm lying in my bed on my laptop it's so much easier, but here I'm sitting relatively straight. Gonna try typing without my glasses, though I'm gonna look like a hunchback to others XD;

65. When I was 10 I used names common to me when I wanted to name people. Places, however, I mashed together actual place names and words, as well as outright using actual words. Thinking about the elaborate paper towns I had back then is making me want to pick up that interchange I drew recently (I sorta finished it, but not really), and just start drawing a whole metropolis across several pieces of paper with that as my starting point.

Yaaaaay :DDD I'll read it when I'm at home and have a better trackpad.

Also the drawing is awesome. I still want you to draw me a Natsu theme someday.

Yay, warm welcomes!

Oh! Oh! You've all heard about Chantelise, right? From the same developers (EGS) and localizers (CarpeFulgur) as Recettear?

It comes out Friday. Yayifications~!

I mean commissions on PC. As in free ones. Hell, you should post a blog entry to advertise!

And I think I started off pronouncing it "soon-dare" but I think it's "soon-derei"?

And forgive me, Shanghai, but I also dunno what you're talking about ;; But not to worry, Google shall fix that! I hope.

Edit: OMG IT LOOKS PRETTY <333 I wanna play~ Even if it's for Windows I shall find a way! /you better work for this Wine

16

Fail at being a weeaboo? Pokey, that is perfect weeaboo right there. Pretends to know Jap, but actually knows nothing.

Play Recettear first. It hooked me in, and kept me going for 12 hours straight.

Or at least, play the demo...
