This is bull- my teacher gets Non-Honors students at a 2nd grade level reading and they expect her to have the same results as having honors students?

So much for performance based teaching. u_u

To hop into that conversation: Middle School kids are also beginning that transitionary phase into adulthood. Their physical changes, in addition to the psychological awareness of an as-of-yet unknown personal identity, often drives the misbehavior, disobediance, and poor academic performances. Those times, it's especially important to build a child's self-esteem. However, I believe personally that, considering how HIGH that level gets of poor academic skill in terms of student population, that to hold students back a year or two even just ONCE would be far more effective than people realize. I've known many people who because they got held back a year became some of the most dedicated students. It snaps kids into the reality that school and success all depends on their own work ethic. I really personally believe that kids need to learn that. >,>;
