This weekly poll I bring to you the Dragon type Gym Leaders, Drayden and Iris VS Brycen! Just so we're clear, both dragon type Gym Leaders will be counted and voted together as one, so you either vote for both Drayden and Iris, or Brycen.

Considering Brycen has the upper advantage, how do you think Drayden/Iris could pull off a win?

What strategies could they use against Brycen?

I voted for Iris and Drayden here cos Dragon-types are strong and Iris is one of my fave characters.

As for a strategy they could use against Brycen, well their Pokemon can use moves like Brick Break and Rock Slide to counter Brycen's Ice-types.

And I think Drayden can handle Dragon-types better than Iris cos he's more experienced than she is.

I think the Flamethrower Druddigon could sweep Brycen's team even though it has crappy Sp.Att.
And the Brick Break can pretty much seal the deal.
I believe in Dragon power, so Dragon leaders for me.

Tough choice...but I went with Brycen in the end because (assuming all 3 Gym Leaders' Pokemon kept their original movesets), here's how it may play out:
-Dragon Tail, the main Dragon STAB of Drayden/Iris' Pokemon, has negative priority, which means that Dragon Dance won't help. So that means the Dragons are forced to eat a strong Frost Breath (or Icicle Crash in Beartic's case) before they can strike back. However, Druddigon could have high enough Defense to survive and strike back with Revenge.
-However Brycen's Cryogonal's Defense is very low, so that means it'll fold to a Dragon Tail, assuming Druddigon, Fraxure or Haxorus survive its Frost Breath or Aurora Beam.

Solution (for Drayden and Iris): give all their Pokemon Dragon Claw or Outrage in addition to Dragon Tail so that they can hit hard without taking a fatal hit in the process.

Appearance-wise, though, I'm going with Drayden and Iris; Drayden has a cool beard and Iris has a much bigger role in the anime as one of Ash's companions.

I'm going based on types again. I took two Ice Pokémon in and waylaid the entire Dragon Gym. They were slightly under-leveled, too, when they first went in with me (they were around the level when they met the leader). Sure, I gave them a couple of drinks along the way; they deserved them, they did a great job.

So given how even the leader was not able to stand up to my TWO Ice Pokémon, and Brycen has THREE, I have to give it to Brycen.

I'd go for the dragon leaders, they're just awesome in general (or at least Iris is!) XD; Brycen could win ofc, but still!! I just think the ice attacks are just too overpowered for the dragon leaders, but if they teamed up? Maaybe.

I actually thought Brycen was pretty cool (no pun intended) I like Iris too, not too much of a fan of Drayden so I'll vote for Brycen.

Design-wise and just in general, I much prefer the dragon gym leaders to Brycen.

I don't think they have that much of a chance however when going up against Brycen in battle. Unlike with Elsea and Skyla, the difference in levels between their Pokémon isn't high enough for that to be the main reason. I believe that for the dragon leaders to win, they would really have to abuse a Dragon Dance + Slash combination from Haxorus and try and sweep with its 147 base attack. Brycen can abuse Cryogonal's high speed and Reflect to shield himself from most of it however. I see Drayden handling dragon types more than Iris because he is older and has more experience and wisdom.

As proof of levels not meaning squat, I accidentally ran across a Trainer's gaze on Route 14 after midnite this morning. Her first Pokémon was a Lv.68 Purugly and my Lv.48 Musharna was my lead Pokémon at the time (I was about to start swarm-hunting for Yanmas - which later sent me scurrying back for a Lv.52 Pokémon, mind - and had activated a Repel). Hypnosis put Purugly to sleep in one try, and two Dream Eaters later, the first victory was mine. Lapras was a pain, however, and even my Lv.64 Swanna (highest I had at the time) had trouble putting it away.

Conclusion: I beat someone 20 levels above me with that one Pokémon. Levels mean nothing, trainer skill does.

Brycen by miles for me, he's my favourite Unova gym leader by a wide margin :)

A: Well Brycen wasn't very tough, I imagine their dragons could move faster than the ice type Pokemon and take them out quickly before they can't take a hit anymore.

Q: What strategies could they use against Brycen?

A: Hit and run, go fast and attack hard. Use high-powered attacks and maybe teach the dragons physical fire moves if there are TMs available.

Q: Out of Drayden and Iris, who do you see handling dragon types more professionally? Why?

A: I don't even know who Drayden is, is he like the mayor of Opelucid or something? Anyways, Iris because if Drayden can't even take proper care of that overgrown beard then how can he handle dragon types?

You seem to not have played Black, Black 2, White 2 or seen Best Wishes anime if you don't know him...
Since you seem to know Iris, I presume you played White.
If yes, then simply said, Drayen is Iris of Black.
In B2W2 he is the only Gym Leader.

Hard choice. I don't really mind Brycen, I don't like Iris at all while I pretty like Drayden. If we could have voted either for him or her, I would have obviously voted for him.
Well, my vote goes for them both nevertheless, since I prefer the dragon-type over the ice-type.

I picked Drayden/Iris because I prefer their characters, and found them very tough while Brycen was a bit of a pushover...
And Drayden needs all the love he can get since his beard swallowed his mouth.

The Dragon Duo could easily take down Brycen I feel. While they do have their weakness, they have higher levels and are faster. (Haxorus is faster than Vannilish and Beartic, at least (as well as Fraxure) and Druddigon may be able to out-speed Beartic with it's higher leveling.)

Each dragon can learn fire moves, along with rock and fighting moves too. One well placed rock slide from a Haxorus could probably do Cryogonal in, and since Haxorus is higher leveled, it MAY be able to out-speed Cryogonal. It probably wouldn't die in one hit either, and if that is true than the main obstacle for Drayden/Iris is taken out of the game. From there, the rest should be easy enough.
