    Hello all,

Hope everyone is doing well! I wanted to ask for some advice. I just caught an Eelektross today and I wanted to put him in place of Pawmot. My current team is Scizor, Meowscarada, Glimmora, Dragapult and Talonflame

I really liked the idea of a Pokemon that doesn't really have a weakness. I battle my buddy often and I was curious what build I should have with him. I'm thinking the move-set Rest, Coil, Giga Punch and Hex due to him having a lot of Pokemon that are weak to ghost type move and fighting type but I can't use berries, only other items so if I rest… i can't use the berry that would wake it up right away. What other option would be good for that move set above that I'm wanting. Assault vest? I'm going to pump up its HP to the max along with its special def.

    Any thoughts would be helpful.

    Thanks!

Hm? Why can you not use a Chesto/Lum Berry to wake it up after Rest? Does he have several Pokemon that prevent it (Unnerve, Knock Off...)?

Do not use an Assault Vest if you plan to use Coil or Rest. Prevents you from using anything other than attacking moves. Suggests Leftovers. Should heal quite a bit, given the plan to use Coil.

Recommends avoiding Hex, personally, unless you have Toxic Spikes or something on the team. Is not that strong without the boost, despite Eelektross's decent Special Attack. Receives no benefit from Coil. Hits for less than Thunderbolt would on a Pokemon weak to Ghost (barely). Rough math:
    • Hex: 65 power * 2 effectiveness = 130 power
    • Thunderbolt: 90 power * 1.5 same-type attack bonus = 135 power

What is Giga Punch? Giga Impact? Drain Punch? Assumes Drain Punch, given the mention of Fighting moves being good.

Oh, i forgot to mention we can't battle with Berry. A rule we came up with but maybe we could change it but we are kind of far in the game so I rather not.

lol! Yes, i meant Drain Punch 🤣. I see so coil wouldn't help in my situation. Though it be nice to boost the defense on it.

What about using assault vest, no Coil or Rest but use other moves that would help the special attack for more coverage?

    Possibly Assault Vest
    Pump up HP and SAttack

    Flame thrower
    Knock off
    Drain punch
Hex (i should have toxic spikes on the floor from my Glimmora usually releases spikes at the beg) unless it could learn shadow ball.

    What about Nature?

Still boosts Drain Punch's damage with Coil, for the record. Helps Eelektross's survivability a lot, given its poor Speed.

Ah, right. Forgot about Glimmora. Makes Hex worthwhile, then.

Gains extra Special Defense, not Special Attack with Assault Vest.

Recommends Thunderbolt over Flamethrower or Knock Off for the Assault Vest moveset. (Go with Discharge, if you cannot get Thunderbolt.) Gains very little extra coverage from Knock Off, due to overlap with Hex. Mainly serves to remove the item. Actually hits a few more Pokemon super-effectively with Thunderbolt than Flamethrower. Notes the 50% power increase from same-type attack bonus on top of that.

For nature: Quiet (+Special Attack / -Speed). Moves pretty slow as-is. Plans to use a physical attack or two, so not the usual Modest.

This may help a little actually. Here is his main characters. He doesn't have really much weak to electric.

    1) Kingambit
    2) Skeledirge
    3) Annihilape
    4) Tinkaton
    5) Baxcalibur
    6) Flutter Mane

I was thinking knock off only to knock off his items being held. I guess i could put knock off on another pokemon rather than my Meowscarada

Tried out some 1v1s with Flamethrower, Knock Off, Hex, and Drain Punch. Always goes last because of the -Speed nature. Assumed +offense EVs and natures, plus Hitpoint EVs. Did not factor in items other than for Knock Off damage. Poisoned the Pokemon that could be poisoned too.

Versus Kingambit: Win, thanks to Drain Punch recovery. Loses to a Swords Dance + Kowtow Cleave build, though.

Versus Skeledirge: Win, thanks to the Assault Vest. Will probably just miss a Hex one-shot. (Deals 82.5 - 97.5% damage with Hex. Likely lives one badly poisoned tick.)

Versus Annihilape: Mixed. Pushes Hex into one-shot territory if it picks Close Combat. Loses if it picks Cross Chop and hits with both (and does not critical). Survives two Drain Punches. Hits hard enough with Hex to two-shot, even with the recovery.

Versus Tinkaton: A likely win. Two-shots with Flamethrower 89.1% of the time. Takes more damage from Play Rough than Mold Breaker + Bulldoze.

Versus Baxcalibur: Loss. Faints to two Dragon Claws or Icicle Crashes. Includes Drain Punch recovery in there too.

Versus Flutter Mane: Mixed. Becomes messy with 30% Special Attack drops from Flutter Mane. Beats Flutter Mane in two rounds IF Moonblast got the Special Attack drop on turn 1 AND was poisoned (not badly poisoned).

Never had the opportunity to use Knock Off. Ends most wins one hit away from fainting. Goes down to whatever comes in, probably. Makes sense to hit Knock Off if you predict a switch, but...given no Pokemon weak to Electric, are they going to?

Knowing that, is there any move that improves a match-up over Knock Off? ...Yes: Heavy Slam. One-shots Flutter Mane, even with Hitpoint EVs.

amazing! This helped so much! So maybe not using knock off. I know his baxi has that item where he can hit 5 times (everytime). I don't know if the move but i think it's ice shard but it be nice to take that off. Granted, my scizor one shots it with bullet punch, technician,
Light orb and Tera Steel. That was when i was level 94 and he was level 100. I might not even need to tera steel to one shot it now that im 100 like he is.

    Question.

If Baxcaliber has a Dark Tera. Does that mean it's no longer super effective towards Steel?

    Question.

    Perfect. I understand.

I was thinking of taking away Dragupult. He has a lot of weakness towards my buddies pokemon. Amazing speed but goes out fairly fast.

What if I were to switch him out with Dragonite? Go with a bulky set. I was thinking normal Terra to cover weakness, adament nature…. Dragon dance, body press (fighting), earth quake (ground). Not sure what held item to do. What are your thoughts on this?

He has added to Ceruledge to his 6. He took out fluttermaine. He has three ghost types.

    Thoughts?

Your team is good in terms of not having too many weaknesses and it looks to be a Hyper Offense team with good potential. It doesn't use any broken Pokémon, and looks like fun, especially when battling against friends. However, in terms of structure, if you and I battled, I would take advantage of the fact that you have no Rock-type resistances and the lack of many special attackers on your team.

If I was using my ranked Singles team against you, I could literally wall the majority of your team with my Corviknight. Kingambit is going to be a problem for you since it resists a good amount of your offense. The main check you have against it is Talonflame. As for Eelektross, I personally wouldn't even use it here. Sure, having no weaknesses (without Mold Breaker) is cool, but lacking weaknesses isn't everything. A Pokémon with no weaknesses can still get KOed by powerful attacks.

Instead, I would replace Eelektross with a Pokémon like Rotom-Wash. Not only is it a good offensive and defensive Electric-type Pokémon that can launch strong special attacks, which is something your team needs, it can beat Ceruledge and Skeledirge because of its Water-typing. It can also cover for Meowscarada's weaknesses.

Regardless of what you do, I will tell you this: if your opponent is using the Pokémon you mentioned, then you're going to have a hard time against him, even in spite of him mostly using Ghost-type Pokémon. He is using some very strong Pokémon. Personally, I would construct a different team to be used against him, but I'm not really a fan of simply telling others what to use. Your opponent has a lot of weaknesses against Ground-types and Ghost-types. I would do whatever possible to take full advantage of that.

UPDATE: I just noticed you that you said you wanted to replace Dragapult with Dragonite.
Dragonite replacing Dragapult can be a great decision. A good moveset for it would be Extreme Speed, Earthquake, Dragon Dance, and maybe an elemental punch for coverage, or Dual Wingbeat for STAB. I would recommend Tera Normal to give STAB to Extreme Speed and have it hold Silk Scarf to do extra damage with Extreme Speed. Sure, a lot of your opponent's Ghost-type Pokémon are immune to it, but Dragonite should be able to take out much of your opponent's team with a Dragon Dance-boosted Earthquake since most of his team is weak to Ground-type.

However, Dragapult is the only other Pokémon that can potentially be your special attacker, which is something that you need. If I were you, personally, I really wouldn't consider making a Hyper Offense team against your opponent. I would make a balanced team with Pokémon that have clear roles. Personally, I would use a lead (Pokémon that can set up entry hazards and screens well), physical sweeper (Pokémon with Attack and Speed stats over 100), special sweeper (Pokémon with Special Attack and Speed stats over 100), wallbreaker with priority (Pokémon with offensive stats 130+ and can use priority moves such as Extreme Speed or Vacuum Wave), physical defender (Pokémon with high HP and Defense stats), and special defender (Pokémon with high HP and Special Defense stats).

Glimmora already fills the lead role, as it can set Stealth Rock and automatically sets up to two Toxic Spikes if it gets hit by a physical attack. It can also launch strong special attacks, but it isn't fast enough to sweep. Meowscrada already makes a good physical sweeper, and Dragonite makes for a good wallbreaker with priority. Now, you just need to find that special sweeper and good defenders. Because I don't like telling others what to use, I'll just allow you to pick your favorites based on the roles I mentioned.

    Good luck!

This is amazing! I appreciate the honest feedback and the thought that was put into your answer. I had thought of Rotom wash as well. I like the water and electric type.

Eelectross was a neat pokemon but i realized that it's not the best for my squad so no more of him.

Should i keep dragapult in and put Palmot? What is a good move set for dragoapult for the above pokemon my friend has?

Question so i do have Tera normal dragonite. Im trying to better understand so i wouldn't use extreme speed for his ghost types. Only his other 3 correct? Since they are basically immune to it.
