What albums released in the latter half of 2014 (June to now) have you found to be your favorites? What were your expectations for other albums and how did they live up to them? Alternatively, what are you excited for as far as the last month of the year goes?

I'm mostly impressed with Marina and the Diamonds' new single, FROOT, that was released this month, 1989 by Taylor Swift (the entire album for God's sake), and Azealia Banks' first album, Broke With Expensive Taste. I never really liked the kind of... trap? Pop? House? Whatever Banks has going on with BWET. I've been waiting for it since Yung Rapunxel was released so it was a gift regardless. I'll likely remember other things released recently that I really enjoyed while I wait for December 15th and The Pinkprint. ;)

A music thread! My favorite =)

The Juan Maclean - In A Dream
    Mazes - Wooden Aquarium
Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels 2
    Ty Segall - Manipulator
Spoon - They Want My Soul
    TOPS - Picture You Staring
    Woman's Hour - Conversations

You're Dead! was by far the best album released this year. Still waiting on The Prodigy's new album, believe they said it'd be out this year.

PORTER ROBINSON - WORLDS GOD DAMN

THIS ALBUM IS LITERALLY THE PINNACLE OF MUSIC.
IT'S QUITE LITERALLY EVERYTHING YOU COULD WANT IN AN ALBUM

IT'S BY FAR MY FAVOURITE ALBUM OF ALL TIME BY ONE OF MY FAVOURITE ARTISTS OF ALL TIME, AND HOME TO 3 OF MY FAVOURITE SONGS OF ALL TIME, FELLOW FEELING, GOODBYE TO A WORLD, and POLYGON DUST (FEAT. LEMAITRE)

IF YOU HAVENT LISTENED TO THAT THEN 1. LISTEN TO IT NOW 2. CONTINUE LISTENING TO IT

MAKE YOUR EARS LIKE YOU MORE

Super8 & Tab - Unified is also a great album and again, it's one of my favourites in ages.

Kimyan Law - Coeur Calme is another great one that's really different to pretty much everything, and definitely worth a good listen to.

NEITHER OF THEM ARE AS GOOD AS WORLDS THOUGH

    PREPARE YOUR EAR CAVITIES.

    PORTER ROBINSON - WORLDS
    first of all holy ****

second of all holy ****. From the first note of the first song I listened to - Spotify suggested "Sad Machine" and I've no qualms - I was immersed. this is some really good stuff. I normally don't like almost full on electronic.. techno? house? I'm not too sure what this is, but I really like it. CAZZETTE has gotten me used to the electronic voice type of musical quirk, so this was enjoyable. this is some stuff to listen to on an expedition through a foreign country and for background music on a documentary or something..

    love

Edit: I realised this post ran pretty long for what it need to be, so what I've put in bold works as a sort of tl;dr.

In this half of the year, I think the only projects I would describe as great or better would be Banco (Sir Michael Rocks), Days Before Rodeo (Travis $cott) and most importantly 2014 Forest Hills Drive (J.Cole) which is probably my runaway album of the year, but then there is little competition for it really.

The Pinkprint & El Pintor (Interpol) were good. The first being a surprise since I'm not a big fan and the latter still being a bit of disappointment. NehruvianDOOM is probably around this level too which was neither a surprise or disappointment really.

Under Pressure (Logic) was okay, I know a lot of people enjoyed it but for me it was just meh. Nobody's Smiling (Common) was probably the same, but it had a few more enjoyable songs than Under Pressure.

I think Blacc Hollywood is the only album I've listened to that was completely garbage. That was definitely a disappointment after 28 Grams which was released earlier in the year was pretty good.

I think I've ran out of albums to look forward to this year unless Lil Wayne manages to magically release Carter V in the next few weeks despite his label troubles which won't happen.

Overall, it's been a pretty bad half of the year really. Despite the albums I listened to being reasonably good on the whole, there weren't many releases I was interested in compared to the first half of the year and definitely very few compared to 2013.
