Enyone beaten the elite four with bug pokemon

has enyone beaten the elite four with crappy bug pokemon ala' buterfree beautifly dustox etc.

Excuse me? Bug pokemon ARE NOT CRAPPY! Especially the ones you listed :@

And to answer your question, no I have not...

I agree with Beaute. Bug Pokemon aren't crappy at all and some are good, like Scizor.

On-topic: yes, I did use Bug Pokemon against the Elite 4 (Armaldo in Sapphire and Emerald, Scolipede in Black and Galvantula in White).

Actually, I have. Besides the odd usage of one in my team, I beat the HGSS 4 with a bug-only team (with the help of some items due to no extra grinding). I'd say the likes of say Pinsir and Heracross showed they weren't 'crappy' to me. =p

Really, you can beat the games with any type of Pokemon given the adequate training/moves.

Wel to be fair their all duel type pokemon i mean only ''pure bug pokemon''

Venomoth was in my party when I first cleared the Elite Four in SoulSilver.
I haven't done an entire bug team, but it's perfectly doable; the type is more useful than it would seem.

Yet none of the monsters you mentioned in the original post are purely bug-type.
Pinsir, Volbeat, Illumise and Kricketune are the only fully-evolved pure bug-types; the majority are dual bug-poison or bug-flying.

to me bug type pokemon are just weaker versions of grass and poison types and the only time they were really relevant was in gen 1 when they where the only type super effective against psychic pokemon. and yes i've beaten the elite four with a bug pokemon scizor but really i only used him cos he looks cool

u can easily go threw b/w elite 4 with just a scyther and yanmega which i have done

Bug Pokemon, especially recently, are awesome. Look at the awesome Bug-types like Volcarona, Leavanny, Escavalier, and Vespiquen. Currently, in my White team, I have a Leavanny, who kicks some serious ***. Volcarona can totally stomp just about anything it's super-effective against. Then, there's Heracross: Megahorn = Win. I have used Bug-types in my team several times, including the Elite Four, and they always do a great job.

Why are you censoring the word ass? It's an uncensored word here.

And Bug Pokemon are awesome. Anyone that's done a Bug monotype in their day can tell you it's not too much of a struggle to beat the game with so called "crappy" bugs.

I'm destroying the white elite four with my gorgeous Butterfree. ^_^ I love bug pokemon

Volcarona is pretty nice ingame, I used her to defeat the Elite four phase two.

But yeah, Bug Pokemon aren't necessarily bad. Everyone just thinks that because they are always the Pokemon that are in the earlier routes, I suppose. : )

I hardly ever use bug Pokemon on my team, but when I was EV Training a few, they turned out to be really tough and I used the elite four to train them to Lv.100

scizor and volcarona are some of the best pokemon hands down. so beating the elite four with them wouldnt be difficult.

In Red, Blue and Yellow, I have not done it, and I imagine it to be difficult. I suppose the only viable Pokémon to use would be Pinsir and Scyther, but I don't think they'd stand much chance. Beedrill obviously won't do too well. Butterfree, on the other hand, has confusion/psybeam + some status moves, but in Gen I, this doesn't seem to help much (except freeze, which Butterfree can't do). However, I might try to do a monotype-bug run to test this out.

In Gold, Silver and Crystal, the Elite 4 wouldn't be that difficult if you were using Yanma, Forrestress, Heracross and the Pokémon mentioned above (and Scizor) for the same reasons. Yanma may not be overly effective, at all really, but at least it's not Caterpie. Heracross for obvious reasons would be kick-ass. Forrestress would be a decent wall, I imagine. I have used a Heracross in Gold before.

In Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, I suppose it became a little easier, as not only were some decent bug-types introduced (inb4 Beautifly, Dustox, Volbeat/Illumise)., but also because the elite 4 had a dark-type member. When I say 'some decent bug-types' I am of course referring to Armaldo and Ninjask. Armaldo cannot beat the Elite 4 on his own, unless a few drastic measures (extreme item usage, level 100, etc), but with the help from Ninjask...

In FireRed and
LeafGreen, I believe it would be similar to the first generation.

In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, bug-types really started to shine. With the introduction of some decent moves, and some decent Pokémon, it would be viable to actually raise some of them in an in-game team, and maybe for the metagame, but they'd mainly be used as support.

In HearGold and SoulSilver, pretty much the same things from Gold, Silver. However, there were some useful moves introduced, and evolutions (Yanmega) that would make it a bit easier. I have used both Scyther and Heracross in various SoulSilver runs, and not only are they fun to walk with, but they are also powerful enough to beat the Elite 4. In my most recent run, I had been training a Beedrill. It ended up being a hall-of-fame-member, but it wasn't really used against the elite 4, only the champion. It fainted in every single battle before that, and I didn't really need it. Before the champion, I replaced Roost with Swords Dance. I used Poison Spikes twice, Swords Dance 3 times and Agilitiy twice so that I could actually beat Lance using only Beedrill. I'm not sure how I managed to set all of that up, though. But yes, I have beaten the elite 4 using bug-types.

In Black and White, bug types are now very viable to use - Leavanny, Scolipede, Escavalier, the other one, I forgot it's name, but I think it's Acelgor or something, Galvantula, and of course, Volcarona. I have used Leavanny and Scolipede in the same team in one of my White runs, and I have also used Galvantula and Volcarona in the same team when I beat Alder for the first time.

Overall, I think I have beaten various elite 4/champion members using bug-types, albeit not exclusively using them.

Well seeing as I am doing an Ultimate Monotype Challenge with bugs and am up to Platinum, I think they are extremely powerfull.
Butterfree might not have the stats to attack well but it has a 97.5% accuracy sleep powder which helps immensley.
Scizor is practically an uber.
Vespiquen and Forretress are massive defensive walls that can take 2 or 3 super effective hits.
My Beautifly single handidly beat Wallace in Sapphie and she was 2 levels under his main pokemon.
Ninjask is the fastest non legendary pokemon and one of the best baton passers in the whole meta game.
Volbeat can learn tail glow, a move that increases its special attack by 3 stages, 2 of those and no one can stop him.
Masquerain is one of the only bugs capable of learning water and ice moves and is an excellent counter to fire and dragon types and has intimidate as an ability.
Pinsir is one of the best looking 1st gen pokemon and can hold his own own battle with his fighting moves.
Shuckle has the highest defence and special defence out of every pokemon and he is the ultimate annoyer with toxic, and can be extremely powerfull if he uses power trick.
Crustle is one of the few pokemon left that can learn stealth rock and shell smash makes him a gun
Volcarona is the first bug fire and some people think is a psuedo legendary he is so strong. He was even worshipped as a sun god.
Galvantula has a nearly perfect accuracy thunder and he is really speedy. Also it is the first bug electric.
So if I havent convinced bug pokemon are good than you are a lost cause and should just quit pokemon all togethor because bug pokemon are perfectly capable of beating the Elite four and any other trainer.
In case you didnt notice, my favourite type is Bug.

And maybe you should try proof reading beofre you post a topic because anyone starts with an A

Never beaten the elite four with an all Bug team, but I have ruined the Elite four with bug pokemon. My awesome Ninjask and Accelgor say hi.

I almost Solo'd Platinum with a Kricketune and Vespiquen. Took out half the E4 with those two, having the most trouble against Bertha and Flint. I used about half bugs when I did that run and I was about level 60ish.

Cynthia was a b**** doing that -w-

I'd argue that it would be very difficult in 1st gen because of the notable lack of any Bug Type moves (also only advantage over grass/Psychic, the former moot for many of the bug-flying types, given no Dark Types to lord over). Which is partly why Psychic types were overpowered in 1st gen and why we got steel/dark types in 2nd gen. Basically, you would have trouble with a bug-monotype run in gen one.

I also feel Yanma would still be fairly poor in 2nd gen - again, little in the way of useful moves for it, as well as a lack of abilities. That and the introduction of some decent bug moves (Silver Wind and for a while now Signal Beam ain't amazing, but it's something) means that I don't think in FR/LG has the same issues as 1st gen games did for Bug types. Butterfree for instance greatly benefited from Compoundeyes, and Pinsir with Mold Breaker also is helpful in cases.

(Side note, but I suggest not posting in different colour text from the forum default, ie that blue for the vast majority of your text. It may look good to you on some forum skins, but in others... it's very hard to read).
