So, i created a pokemon event where the player recieves a cyndaquill but it doesn't evolve. It gets to the cutscene but half-way through it seems as though the b button has been clicked and the evolution stops? I've tried different ways of levelling up and the script seems ok so, what's happening? Ideas?

This is because Cyndaquil and it's evolution aren't in the Pokédex yet. You need the National Dex to evolve such Pokémon. You can fix this by enabling the National Dex by means of a script.

Oh, makes sense. So basically when Prog.Oak gives you the Kanto Dex, just change the script for a National Dex. Cheers

It should be illegal to offer people that cheap solution. Open a hex editor and type 00 00 14 E0 at 0xCE91A to make those evolutions work without the national dex.

Well, I'm also new and just trying to help. You could try to be a bit more friendly...

Bro, can you be a little more specific?
Need help there, but I didn't understand exactly how to change that...

EDIT: Also, what does it change? I can evolve without the National Dex. But what happens after I get it? Will every Pokémon be automatically updated, or none will be?
Wouldn't it be "easier"(maybe safer or more certain) to use that National Dex script?

I believe using the National Dex early does weird things to the Sevii Islands in FR. And for his advice, go into a hex editor and at that offset type in those bytes to replace what was there. That'll register what Pokémon you've caught/seen, but the regular Pokedex won't be able to show the entries of Pokémon from outside of Kanto.
