5th Gen Evolutions Discussion

yeah it was...I failed to up the beauty on two feebas' I'm glad I succeeded on my third try (actually it was my fourth my first was a success but I lost that Milotic...) on Emerald...I haven't done so for gen 4 yet...

Now if only I can get Eevee to evolve into Espeon/Umbreon with the Sun and Moon stones respectively, Ill be happy in the evolutions department. :3

Although it's nice to see a bit of a reintroduction to the trade evolutions, they're still a pain. I'd much rather be able to do it in game with a stone or level, as someone else said.

If anything though, when it comes to new Pokemon and evolutions...I would have really liked to see a new method. The whole trading with the specific two Pokemon is sorta cool, but it doesn't feel that fresh. They could have came up with something cooler, if you ask me.

What are those two pokemon that evolve only when the other is traded for it again?

Kapuromo and Chobomaki.

What I found out is that the former specializes in offense, but turns defensive when traded and vice versa for the latter.
it's also funny how Chobomaki loses it's armor but Kapuromo gains armor in evolution...

That was meant on purpose, because of how they have to be traded with each other. The idea is basically that Kapuromo gains the armor from Chobomaki. Where Chobomaki's evolution gets its cloak from, I have no idea... but it looks mighty cool.

That is so awesome! That could be a very good method. One of the best ones yet! But, I just got an idea that kind of sucks but what if you trade a pokemon to a pokemon game and it evolves or changes formes to gain Spc. Atk and Atk and when you trade back, it loses its attack strength and it gains Def. and Spc. Defense. Also, an item similar to an everstone could be held, preventing the pokemon's stat change when trading. How's that?

Feebas evolving to Milotic with a Cleanse Scale, call me lazy, but i'll be doing that for sure :P
Besides, I never really got round to catching a Feebas.
But I agree that it takes out alot of point in raising a Feebas.

I can't remember what the rest of the posts here say, so if it's already mentioned, sorry!

I just had an idea, thinking about the amount of evolutions in the game. Almost every Pokemon has an evolution - seemingly a lot more than previous ones, or is given that impression. Even ones that aren't necessary have evolutions. This could be a sign that they were designed not to get future evolutions, seeing how the general public related to Sinnoh's mass evolutions of older Pokemon. Due to this, older Pokemon won't get any more cross-generation evolutions, to please the fans and give GF more of a reason to be trusted (I don't know the word, but so it'll always be the same, like they won't go back on the idea they came up with, with future designs that make a certain Pokemon worse?)

Alternatively, in future games, there will probably be ways to breed Mamanbou and Afro Bull (which I forgot the name of), with Luvdic and Tauros respectively, allowing them to be alternate evolutions. And thus, those will be the last Pokemon to ever recieve evolutions from a previous generation. All in all, that idea is less likely than the former one, because based on what we know, it's probably the way GF is going about it.

Miltank wont be happy with afro buffalo breeding with Tauros. I hope Miltank and Tauros get alternate pre evo's.

I prefer the old method of evolving Feebus. Much more challenging and fun. I think B/W just killed a but of Hoenn, Feebus deserves to be made beautiful!

lol all i can say is sham wow
wait did i already post here? no matter

the evos are at an EXTREMELY HIGH standard. i mean meraruba is in an egg
and you have to train it to lvl59 and youll get the BEST reward EVA

and also the electric eel first stage has 4 moves
and will only have those 4 moves until lvl39 i think i mean WTF
and monozu dont get me started on that 50-64 pokemon
lot of pokemon evolving round 40~50~60 now so

the moral is big levels, better rewards and so and so

The funny thing is that in the past they had some of us hold out on evolution in order to get good moves (prime example Mudkip and Hydro pump)

I actually like that it takes longer to obtain some evolutions. We asked for difficulty and we got it.

I like that they are difficult to get too but I have to admit some of them are odd like Gear's evolution line, I would have expected level 20 for the first one and 35 for the second.

I hate this!
On Emerald, I did a long work to get my Milotic, and now they made it too simple!
Because of that, I PalParked him from Emerald (after cloning :P), then Pokèshifted to both Black and White. Then I made a Feebas Egg :D

^ What are you talking about?

I agree. Plus, it's not that hard to level up..at all.

I got a Level 1 Monozu to level 64 in two days. Thanks to Tabunne and Lucky Egg (I EV trained first of course..)

I hate Feebas's new way of evolution! Now a Milotic is as common as Gorebyss. The challenge of evolving Feebas, well, there is no challenge any more. Just slap on a item, give it to your buddy, get it back from your buddy and you got a Milotic.
I can't trade, so no Milotic for me.
EDIT: This is my 100th post!!!

Yeah, and when you've actually worked to get your Pokemon just right it makes you appreciate it a lot more... creating a sort of a bond.
