Experiments [PG-13]

Aura released her invisibility and looked around. She stood to her feet.

"We need to go somewhere, anywhere but here." she said lowly, scared to speak any louder. "I don't think he's in any position to do anything Drake."

When the fight was starting to end, Luphen started to wake up. Not seeing anybody around he started to walk home. He felt the air current change showing him two people were still there. He looked to the sky and said," Look, Drake how about we play game to see who kill that bastard and fire boy first? Then me and you have our battle."

"And Aura if what he said is true about you then I'm sorry because I know you only did it because you felt you was helping out." He said as he stopped walking for a second waiting for Drake's answer.

Drake nodded at her. She was right. He was in no position to fight, and they were in no position to wait. Drake looked at her. He then proceeded to get away. He tried to put his injuries aside, but he was hurt, and he couldn't walk long without a rest.

"Hurry up. We need to...get out of here."

He nodded at Luphen before leaving.

Aura waved at Luphen before running to catch up with Drake. Her leg was throbbing, but she was nowhere near as hurt as he was. When she reached him, she grabbed a hold of his arm.

"Are you okay?" she asked, using her other hand to wipe her eyes.

Drake stopped walking as she grabbed his arm. He looked at her for a moment. She was a big help to him yet again, saving him yet again from the same person, the bastard Experiment Eric. But this time,he probably couldn't say anything even if he wanted to on the topic.

"I'm fine. We have to keep moving." Then he added, "Why are you crying this time? I didn't kill him, like I said I wouldn't."

She wanted to smack him, but she held it back, he was hurt enough as it was. She finished wiping her eyes and smiled lightly.

"You idiot. I'm crying because. . . I thought you were going to die." she sniffled. "You scared me back there Drake. I was terrified that you were going to get hurt. And I was right." tears started to fall down again, so she wiped her arm across her eyes. "Stupid." she mumbled.

Drake was puzzled. It wasn't the answer he thought he would hear. He wasn't sure if it was the answer he wanted to hear. But he held back usual remarks he would make at this. He did not, for some reason, want to see her cry anymore.

"Well you can stop crying. I'm not seriously hurt, and it takes more than that to take me down. So don't waste your tears on these minor wounds. Don't waste your tears on me."

Drake grinned a bit.

Aura smiled, squeezing his arm tighter. "I'm working on it boss man. And I'm not wasting them." she wiped her eyes again. "In the meantime, don't you ever, and I mean ever scare me like that again." she hissed.

She felt the throbbing pain in her leg again, but ignored it as they continued walking. "By the way," she said, "If you ever need help, you know you can ask me, and I'll do whatever I can."

Drake was rather impressed, astounded even. He never heard anyone speak forcefully like that to him without them ending up dead. This was a different scenario, but Drake nodded either way. When she spoke of her helping, he thought to himself how she already did, and so he felt no need to ask her, for it seems she would keep helping either way.

"I'll keep that in mind..." He said, his voice trailing off. She was still holding his arm, but Drake, for now at least, didn't mind. For the first time, he spoke up about what he thought.

"You know, you're very interesting."

"Thanks, I think." Aura said softly. Then she giggled. "If you don't mind me saying this, I like being around you. I'm not so lonely when I'm with you." she smiled at him.

After a minute, she realized what she said and covered her face with her hand. "Sorry. I- sorry." she was officially embarrassed.

Drake looked at her. He said nothing as he continued to stare.

Like being around me? He watched as she covered her face with her hand. Once again, Drake was at a loss of words. He hadn't been in a position to respond to these scenarios. But he tried his best.

"It's fine. If it's any consolation, your company isn't a bad thing to have around either. You're certainly better than people I've had around me before."

Drake wondered if he put that right. Probably not, but he tried his best with what he could do.

While Luphen laid in his bed, he went over the events of the day."What was my problem today? I almost went totally overboard and killed Aura. She is my friend, why would I do something like that?"

Then he remembered what his grandma said. "Control the power don't let the power control you." He said to his self out loud. "Well at least I know as long as she is with Drake she is ok. Speaking of Drake, I never thought one day I would help him, but that Eric dude really pissed me off. I hate when people like him attack someone who was already injured that's a scary cats move."

He then forced his self to sit up and meditate til he got tired and fell asleep.

Aura peeked from behind her hand and laughed. Then she dropped her hand. "Wow. I don't usually say things like that." she laughed. "You know, we don't make a bad pair."

After a few minutes of walking Aura decided to change the subject. "Tell me something about yourself." then she added, "I mean, if you want to. You don't have to." okay, she was officially nervous.

Drake had to agree. They were a deadly combination in battle. She with her invisibility and hearing has proved useful in the past, and his sight and lightning came through as well.

Drake relaxed a bit when she mentioned a change in subject, but then tense up a bit after realizing what it was about. "I don't think you want to hear anything about me. It's not much of a conversation topic."

Drake wondered why she suddenly became so interested. "If we must hear about someone to pass the time, I would rather hear about you."

Aura nodded. "Okay. Um. . I'm fourteen, I'll be fifteen next month. I had the same, and only, friend from kindergarten to ninth grade. After that, I skipped tenth grade." she paused. "My parents were so excited. I was so glad that they finally noticed something I did." she sighed. "Then a week later, my sister did something amazing, I don't remember what, and I started getting into trouble again."

She stopped for a minute, looking down at her feet. "When The Corp captured me, I was running away. I guess they saved me the trouble."

She took another breath and added, "And I do want to hear about you, no matter what it is. But, like I said, it's your personal life, and if you don't want to tell me, that's fine. And, if you ever want to know anything about me, just ask."

Drake listened. He felt obligated to give some sort of response.

"I turned 16 not too long ago. I never had much burden of friendship. I didn't want any to begin with. I don't have any parents, but I did have a guardian. He taught me the ropes of the most important thing in life: how to survive. And I did a pretty good job at that, doing whatever I needed to in order to survive. Eventually, he was killed. I never had any friends, but he was the closest to a friend I ever had. Needless to say those who got to him got what they had coming, their whole damn gang...."

Drake trailed off for a moment, then continued, "The Corp must have either wanted me off the streets or wanted me for my talent, but either way, they picked me up. To be honest I didn't argue. It would be a better life than what I had left there, which, after he died, was nothing."

Drake looked up at the sky, remember the face of his guardian. He regretted saying this much, but then again, didn't It was nice to finally say something.

Aura smiled and grabbed his hand. "Thank you Drake." she said, leaning her head on his shoulder. "You know you can trust me, right?" she paused, glancing up at him, "I want to be your friend." she said softly.

Today had been long, tiring, and she cried more than she intended, but it had been a good day. She smiled happily, maybe things wouldn't be so bad.

Drake was silent. He was uneasy about trusting anyone. It went against all he stood for, all he had known. But he wasn't sure anymore. For now, he will trust her. She seemed sincere.

Drake looked at her, unable to find the words to respond. He merely nodded.

She's a nice girl, He thought.

Drake was feeling better. He had almost forgotten about the pain of his wounds. He may not have been showing it, but he was actually a little happy.

Eric ran back into his house. He was pissed and really sad.

And they used to say I wasn't a team player....Obviously they never even met these guys...We're no longer a team, it's everyone against me...Ice Kid and Invisible Girl used to be my partners and now they want me dead. Funny how things turn out.

He walked up to his room. He sat down on his bed and began to think what he could do to turn the tables.

I have learned two lessons...One, the girl can make herself invisible...and two...Everyone is corruptible...I can use this fact to my advantage...I have to find the other Materials...They won't be happy to hear what I have got to tell them...

He chuckled and turned on his computer. Now where could I get those goggles I need...While I think I'm gonna do something, to spend my time.

He got outside and in seconds returned with a small log. He took a blade and began to carve it as he thought about where he would get the goggles and where the rest of the Materials could be.

(OOC: School is starting to keep me busy, so I may post less often...)
