Have you considered making the first two mons one pokemon with 2 different appearances based on gender?
Mainly asking because I think the latter could work too ^.^
Like all the female ones would evolve into Miltank, and all the male ones would evolve into Tauros.

The ones you already drew would suffice as a female and male form imo
They are similar enough to pass for the same species if they were one mon with gender forms (kind of why my brain went there in the first place lol)
Imo anyway.

& i decided to make one :> the 3 word prompt was: pretty, protecter & protaganist.... i chose sailor moon... cause i like sailor moon *granted, i haven't watched it for a while :> *

so i did this.... but i can't decide four paws or 2 paws... but then, i thought, aside from a few standing pokemon that can run on 4 as well, i don't have any riolu type pokemon in my dex, yet... *sinnoh has riolu... johto, my fav region doesn't have anything like that.... so... yeah... :> so i think i'll go for the standing one :>

i thought about this suggestion.... despite me being their creater, i think roscal looks cuter then calmil... & if i adjust it's colours just a little & maybe give roscal the name ''calmil'' instead *or a different name entirely*..... yeah! ^^

hmm... i think the easiest route to go for the first stage would be something related to snapping, jaws, or trapping. i had a look at the deviantart posts too in order to get a feel for what kind of pokemon they are.
if you're basing a pokemon off a semi-obscure animal that already has a pokemon based on it, try not to make it seem too similar to any existing pokemon. maybe you could compare and contrast this line with the Flygon line? as in, what sets these designs apart from them? or are they intentionally parallel? (think Magikarp and Feebas)
anyway. here's off the top of my head
stage 1: Myrmelure (Myrmeleontidae + lure), Snawgle (snare + maw + snaggle). maybe something involving how it uses sticky thread as well as its jaws to help trap prey?
stage 2: nothing off the top of my head but it could be related to armor, having a hard shell, or being a cocoon
stage 3: also nothing off the top of my head but i'm thinking it could be related to its aggressive nature and speed.
