During your upbringing and growing up, what were some of your favorite family traditions? Do you still perpetuate those traditions till now?

Thinking back on it, my family had like no traditions whatsoever. We didn't even have something stupid and small like spaghetti night or family movie night. I kinda wish we did... but I doubt I would have perpetuated them now.

My grandmother kinda started a tradition. All her children and grandchildren were usually busy on Christmas Eve and Christmas, and she had to work on Christmas Eve anyway, so she has her Christmas party on New Year's Eve instead, and all six of us grandchildren would stay the night. We don't all stay now, since we're older, but either way, I plan on keeping this tradition going, since I do have a big family and well, it'll only get bigger, haha. My great grandmother had her Christmas party on Christmas Eve. Now, she had 10 kids, 24 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. Now THAT was a full house, haha. She's passed away now though, so I guess that's one tradition gone. Shame too, since that's the only time we would get to see most cousins, but eh. :/

Um... We didn't really have that many family traditions. D:

Let's see... I don't even remember any traditions we may have had. I remember everyday Sunday we'd eat at McDonalds (not anymore) but that's more like a custom I guess.

My great-grandma has a Christmas party on Christmas Eve at her house. It's usually tons of fun and I see a bunch of people I never get to see otherwise. I haven't been to it in a few years though. Wisconsin is too far away. :(

It's also a tradition that all the Christmas stuff goes up the day after Thanksgiving at my parents' house, or at least it was when I was a kid. Then again Thanksgiving dinner with just the immediate family was always a nice tradition, because my family cooks so well. :D~

And way back in the day when I was a kid my parents would take us out to eat after church sometimes. It got less common as the years went on, though.

My great grandma on my moms side would have all her kids and grandkids over for both thanksgiving and easter, and then once our family got really big they moved it from my great grandmas house to some forest preserve. So ever thanksgiving and easter I go off to see my grandpa and great aunts and uncles and cousins while eating amazing food. Usually everyone catches up and asks how old I am and what grade i'm in EVERY year even though it's the exact same from thanksgiving to easter :|, plays cards, plays soccer, and so on :)

If it's not too rainy (and it's usually ALWAYS rainy) we go on walks through the forest and play with the baby cousins.

My great aunts/uncles and grandpa are getting older and I don't really know if we'll continue the tradition when they're gone since there are some family tensions, we just usually put them aside for the holidays. I'd hate to see it stop, even if not everyone gets along. I definitely want to keep the big family thanksgivings going for my family :)

    So many Italian traditions. :(

To start off Sunday dinner. Which was pure hell. The whole family had to get together at my grandmother's and eat this four course meal of pastas, meats, vegetables, and desserts. Which isn't the bad part! It's the whole family being there thing that was so terrible.

Then every holiday had/has its own food tradition. Christmas Eve being we have to eat a meal of seven different kinds of fish. No meat allowed whatsoever. Then on Christmas you celebrate by actually eating meat with ham, prime rib, meat balls, prosciutto, and sausages. There are other foods though so it's not just meat. Oh and meat stuffed raviolis... how could I forget that one.

Easter always starts with egg soup. Which I can't stand it, but everyone else likes it for some reason. Then ham, prime rib, mashed potatoes, and raviolis are a staple of the whole meal.

Then of course at any family get together whether it be a wedding, funeral, birthday, shower, or just a random excuse to get the family together, someone always cooks meatballs and some kind of pasta. Along with some assortment of Italian sausages and other meats. Then for dessert someone always makes these nasty Italian cookies (can't spell it for the life of me) that are horribly dry, hard, and lacking of any sweetness whatsoever.

Anyways I hate my family traditions mostly because I can't stand the family. Everything is still continued now besides Sunday dinner. I will make sure when I'm older to never attend these gatherings and have my own traditions by myself<3333

Well we used to have loads of traditions, but because of job changing and such they kinda died x] like having a "chippy tea" every friday :D
But theres one we still have now, we always have Christmas at our house, all our aunts and uncles and such would come in the morning and leave in the evening. And then we'd all go to my nans house on boxing day where we'd have like a second Christmas dinner xD
But since my nan moved further away its been switched to going to hers for new years and having the second Christmas dinner there :D
Sometimes i wonder how all of my family isn't obese xD

My dad started the tradition of rejecting Christmas as well as all of the other Christian things that he was brought up with; I quite happily follow this!

We used to, until everyone moved away. (Except for us, which makes me so jealous of the rest of my family!) We used to do things like have an Earth Day party every year at my cousin's house, and we'd have an awesome Christmas party where we always had fried dough and ice cream. And we went on an annual camping trip with the whole family. But the best part was our family reunions. They were SOOOOO awesome!

But now all we do is have dinner with the whole family every few weeks. Which we did before, but it's not fun anymore. Everyone has annoying kids who are the ONLY topic of conversation. (I'm not even exaggerating, it's extremely rare that we talk about anything else.) Which annoys me a lot because I hate children. >:( Sometimes we go out to eat instead, but it's embarrassing. We go to a fancy place, but nobody acts like it and I'm sure we annoy everyone else there. Because who wants to listen to screaming kids and loud conversations about little Johnny's bathroom habits when they're on a romantic date or something like that?

I doubt I'd carry on any of those traditions, partially because it'd be hard to get the entire family to come, and partially because I don't think I'd enjoy it anymore. My family doesn't really like me anymore so it'd just be awkward.

When it's someone's birthday, the celebrant chooses which restaurant for the family to eat in during dinner.

The only thing coming close to a family tradition would be that, much to the dismay and me and my father, my mother used to cook fish every Friday, even though we're not exactly living close to the coast, not catholic and not living in a region dominated by Catholics. Recently I managed to convince her to do it on Tuesdays instead - the day where I return home way later than on any other one.
She also, again much to the dismay of me and my father, only cooks meat on Wednesdays and Sundays.

I know it's sad, but that's about the closest thing to a family tradition we have...

Diwali. It was my favorite Indian Holiday. Lighting up candles around the house with family, eating a lot, getting money, it was nice. But, then all of my cousins started going to college and now it's only adults, so it's not very...fun.

We used to have traditions like everyone getting together at grandma's house for the holidays and seeing friends of the family on Christmas Eve, but with people (including us) moving away and schedules changing, we haven't been able to continue many of the traditions I remember as a child. We really don't follow any at all nowadays.

We don't really have any I can think of at the moment. Though we always have roast on fridays. xD

We have celebrations all the time. In fact I am going out for one of my grandma's 70th today XD Every time it is someone's birthday we all get together and celebrate it, even though we are far from a happy family. Same thing with Easter and Christmas ^.^

Um.. I don't think my family has a family tradition lol.. xD

Oh no, actually, on the last day of the year (12.31) we're not allowed to sleep. o.o Idk, I know it's strange.

One of our family traditions is to take/pick up from the airport. No matter what time. We also get breakfast on the way going to the airport or going home.

    I love family traditions :D
