I saw a fic about magikarp though :P But I suppose people get them for gyrados~

Hmm...I want to do a fic on like farfetch'd or maybe likitung...

Hmmmm...

As far as this topic goes... I have to go with Iveechan and Nekomajo?s comments.

I just use what suites the battle more/appeals to me a bit. To me, writing battles is probably one of the most enjoyable aspects of Pokemon writing as it?s so versatile. (The battle can have this insanely serious atmosphere or this weird/zany feel yet still hold seriousness and humor if you wish it.)

But with 386 Pokemon out there, it?s hard to make a fight for every single monster, or at least, make each one shine in its own way? Esp. if you?re going to make this short battle for the underrated/overrated ones where they either win or lose. It doesn?t do any Pokemon real justice. (Unless you?re a Charizard, which deserve to be humiliated in everyway possible.) These ?joke fights? as I see them are something I?ve seen often in fics and in tournament based animes. But those fights exist simply to show off the overbearing, near untouchable strength of the main rival/opposing team or how ruthless he/she/they can be.

Something that does no justice to the poor defeated/slain plot moving fellow but its something that can?t be helped should be done in moderation not all the time.

I like to elaborate my fights for any guy(s) that?s seems fits for the combat scene. Even if its going to be a humorous one; usually, the ?joke fights? contain more well known ones in an: ?Eh, whatever, we know their stuff? prose.

By the thing is that Stantler's Pokedex entry is an easily abused battling material. A wide movepool, on top of the interesting Role Play attack, makes Stantler quite an interesting Pokemon to use in a fanfic Pokemon battle. Since stats no longer matters here, Stantler is more than just a weaker form of Tauros, and probably even more.

Yes, some Pokemon are just insanely difficult to be treated as a "different" and "unique" Pokemon. If you used one of Pidgeot, Feaor or Swellow before, then you've pretty much wrote all 3 of htem.

Yeah, I'll cry you a river. XD

I've used stantler in my fanfic before. Am I seriously the only one? 0_o

Edit: And vote on the fanfic battle thread. Please.

Yeah... The stat talk is a very intresting really. To me, people only seem to bring up things like game canon and stats ONLY when they want the matter to be advantageous in the situation created for THEIR work.

Now as far as poor little Stanler goes you got me there. I won't argue that. G/S monsters save for a good handful were never in my range of intrest so i'm a tad biased. But true... There's alot of latent potential fic wise in alot of monsters really...

hot on the trail of my latest PMC chapter is my second translation work from Pokesho. Be sure to check it out as well.

I use stats in my fics, but I like to believe that stats don't matter as much as they do in the games; the lack of good stats would therefore not make Stantler weak if I wrote about it, because Stantler would make up for it with its special abilities.

Exactly. Stats and numbers are always relative for the fanfic. Obviously, an Alakazam got superior special attack compare to Gardevoir in the game, but in fanfic you can argue for being equal or Gardevoir's being slightly higher, even. Yet, it's too much to say that a Victreebel's special attack is stronger than Gardevoir's. As long as the stats are *generally* true, then it's just fine.

It's really confusing regarding the list... x_x;

Right now, technically it's empty, but at the same time there is. I owe Billy a beta reading, though I so thought that there is some condition written in the PM that if the condition applies then I don't have to read it. I was sure that the condition applies so I didn't read it, but apparently I have to read it.

Waiting patiently for "Trial of Reluctance" to be reviewed, as it should be reviewed now but the review order is taken back because the author found a huge flaw of some kind, and want to fix it first before reviewing... so yes o.o;

Technically empty, but there are 2 waiting in a way as well.

Do you at all remember that story I emailed you and wanted a review of...? =O

x3

Pokemon fanfics always get priority because that's what this forum is all about. If you want the list to extend to include non-Pokemon stuff, add in 3 more then.

(oh but is it possible to send me the word document over email instead of relying on that PM? It's easier to do because I can use it to check grammar and blah blah blah stuff)

Just a small update on how reviews are going... I have to re-read Trials of Reluctance to refresh my mind (last review on it is... before summer). So I'm working on things ^^; So, not dead here >>;

Busy busy 2 tests tomorrow GAHHHH

*wants a hug*

Someone shut up the silence. ._.

Okay, I'll ask a question. Do you think age doesn't matter with a fic? I understand that at any age you're capable of learning new things and improving yourself, but take for example a ten year-old. Do you expect them to write as well as a sixteen year-old because they can?

*gives a chocolate Hugs candy thing to frosteh and goes off to decipher physics hw --;*

... well... *points at Lily* She impressed me with her writing and she was 12 when I first read her fics... and they were wonderful...

hell she can even write better than me...
