True, but Lily is still younger than most of us...

You mean, all of us (who frequent the Fanfiction Lounge)?

I want to break up the silence too but I can't double post ^^; But I've been waiting.

Age matters, yet it doesn't at the same time. Age doesn't exclude you from being treated in a certain way when your work is being read objectively, but age does matter when you're writing comments which are meant for the subjective. Young writers deserve to be praised for a great piece of writing that's beyond what the general people of that age group can do. However, age doesn't mean that they should be judged on a handicap scale. They need to know how to improve and what needs to be done to improve.

Authors of different ages generally write differently in theme and style too. Romance genres grow in strength through age, for example.

Well i have a fic, but i haven't posted it here yet. Its contestshipping, but I'm sorta stuck with writers block at the moment.

Generally, writers mature as they get older (read: they get better), but the writing by some young kids can still be quite impressive.

This place has been sooo dead. *le sigh*

hey ya'll, has anyone read Pokemon : Discoveries, please do, i might right some more if i get feedback. And, if anyones askin, there were paragraphss but when i formatted it somehow they all disapeared!~

And I honestly don't see why you can't fix the formatting after you c/p the story into the box in PC... it doesn't take that long.

Well, I haven't seen a SINGLE good dark chaptered fanfics from young writers yet. Young writers seem to do a lot better with journey-action-adventure fanfics that aren't to the point of dark yet. Also, angst seems to be best at the senior high range... I haven't seen someone with a good angst story (without Mewtwo, that is. Mewtwos seem to give older writers a tremendous boost) that is younger or older than that range yet...

*bragging begins*

OH MY GOODNESS I asked for the government to re-score my English provincial exams (the diploma) and I got my results back... I don't know how the heck did they mark the first time, but the essay went from a 64 to a 96 O_o;

(English mark: 80 => 88)

How do they make such a huge difference in marking...

*ahem* o.o; Ok keep talking about fanfics now

*wants a hug*

Er...*hugs Frosty* ;P

I'd like to write an angsty story. Actually I'd really like to 0______________o; Maybe I'll start one later tonight. My first FanFic was a Dark one. And it sucked >( But it was meh first anyways.

So...ya 0_0;

I don't mind angst in moderate and sensible doeses, but a fic pureply about angsting I find insanely annoying.

Dark fics are great to read, though. Though admittedly I don't like gory darkfic.

I've never equated darkfic with angst. Really, most of the darkfic I read isn't angsty at all. Well, there's always a little bit of angst in there, but it's generally pretty brief because the ones that I read are generally fairly action-oriented. I've never really sat through an actual angstfic, to be perfectly honest. I have a hard enough time getting through angsty chapters in books, much less entire 'fics revolving around it.

*sigh* So, the fanfic battle is officially dead now, isn't it?

I hate angst and it always involve Pokemon I dislike too (Mewtwo, Umbreon, et cetera).

Also, I am old and write like crap. And I've had a few people tell me that I should write better for someone my age, but that's rare. My writing is more like jumbled thoughts than a solid, coherant idea. Which is why I write better on the computer, because I can cut and paste stuff and more easily tweak things that sound weird. Chapter 3 of Guilty by Design was all written out of order and then arranged and glued together. I easily get jealous of people younger than me who are much more skilled, which is why you don't see me reading and reviewing many fanfics.

...

*realizes that Frosty isnt' normal as angst and dark are probably his favorite Pokemon fanfic genres*

There's also character angst too. Best example off the top of my head right now is Brian's story regarding Satoshi's mindset. Reading it 2 o'clock at night seriously isn't smart... I was completely surprised by the ending (which is NOT COMMON at all for me at reading Pokemon fanfics... I can usually guess it out pretty well) as well. However, the 2nd re-read of the story turns out to be boring, but that's probably because I know all the surprises already.

It's true that angst fanfic hero is either Mewtwo, or a dark type. Yet Iveechan's small list forgot another Pokemon who isn't a ghost, psychic or dark type... Hmm, anyone want to guess which Pokemon this is?

*wants a hug*

Is it Eevee? Pikachu? Eevee angsts about everyone abusing it, even though every sane trainer in the world would love to own an Eevee, and Pikachu whines about how it's really a slave to Ash.

Meh, I get real sick of the Mewtwo angst. I love Mewtwo, but I can't bear to sit around and read about him sitting around and whining about how his life sucks and he'll never find love and stuff. I mean, if he gets down, he can just go out and squash the people he's mad at.

I've seen a surprisingly high number of charmeleon/charizard angst 'fics because people seem to think that Ash, like, doesn't care about his charizard and stuff, but I have a feeling you weren't thinking of that one.

In episode 3 of "Adventures in Pokesitting II", I'm planning to have the gang take Mizu and Umi (the Azurills) to the movies...but what movie should I make them see?

I'll accept Pokemon parodies of real movies, made up movies, or even plugs for fics, but the movie they see has to be G rated...

Negrek speaks of those who aren't Pokemon veterans writing Mewtwo fanfics like that. Because they rely on the dub which didn't show the Pokemon First Movie prequel, they obviously misunderstood Mewtwo. Dub Mewtwo portraits itself as one who never experienced love, and only hates humans because Giovanni tried to manipulate Mewtwo for his own power. Yet because of the lack of the radio drama, Mewtwo's ambition to find a purpose of life and why Ash is restored to life by tears are never explained... It's a shame really. Mewtwo's story is probably the only part of the Pokemon anime that is actually properly planned, and young Mewtwo in the radio drama is very philosophical. People who knows of the entire story of Mewtwo actually portrait Mewtwo as someone who wants to find love in order to re-create his childhood. There is a really good fanfic somewhere (which I forgot the title of, shame on me) that talks of an airplane crash right above where Mewtwo and the clones are hiding. Every human being on the plane died, and only a baby girl survives. Mewtwo then took care of the human girl and in a sense, re-enacted Mewtwo's childhood through the girl with only that the roles of the human girl and Mewtwo are switched around. Now the girl is doing all the questioning like Mewtwo in the past, while Mewtwo has taken the role of being the parent. Unfortunately, I don't know how the fanfic turned out because it was never finished. That one kind of borders angst and leans much more to tragedy, but it's definitely worth mentioning. Mewtwo can stand out *very well* if a reader knows the backstory of the radio drama.

There's actually plenty of Pikachu angst, but usually it's not Ash's Pikachu. Most of the time, it's some other Pikachu who is expected to be as powerful as "the legendary trainer" and those trainers push their Pikachu too hard, resulting in a tragic tale. But that's not the one I have in mind either...

Hmm personally I don't really like those Ash's Charizard angst fanfics, because their arguements are really weak. They try to use canonical information to make an angst, but the anime did a seriously poor job of reasoning why Charizard disobey Ash in the first place (not much reason to it.)

Actually, I was thinking of Chikorita ;p Jealousy-angst for the win!

Hmm I don't know what movies there Emeraldsky... You may have to choose the movie depending on what/how you want the story to be like.

actually, I was planning to participate in that myself. However, I need to do something first. I can mention the details later.

*sigh* So, the fanfic battle is officially dead now, isn't it?
Hmm, seems that we'll hafta keep working at it.

Heya, I'm back! Now the FF lounge will arise and dominate the world's plutouranium! WAHAHAHACK! XP

Deh, Mewtwo is so cool and everybody's like 'oh noes, he's so depressing because he's searching for*insert really tragic something here* and he can't find it! Deesh, it's annoying. I mean, it's not like he's supposed to be miserable just because he's scouring the world by night, blah blah blah. Like, he's cool! XD

Although I HAVE seen fanfics involving him that don't portray him as miserable. He's the bad guy, not the 'gloomy guy'. XD Miserable or evil, take your pick. XP XD

How depressing. XP XD 8X

Question: How do you like to write your stories? Do you prefer first person POV or third? Do you like writing action or romance or what?

I enjoy first person POV most of the time, and action or just plain old day-to-day living. A good example of 'day-to-day living' would be 'Misconception', by Act. I've enjoyed reading that, almost 100% because it was realistic. I mean, ten-year-olds aren't exactly the geniuses the show makes them out to be, but they're not always the n00bs so many parodies say they are. They're ten-year-olds! XD

Anyways, what's your preferred style?

?SilverBlaze09?

But that Mewtwo I mentioned is the good guy who isn't evil or that gloomy XD;

The battle fanfic... hopefully it lives. I only got to read 3 fanfics out of it =/

I personally prefer 3rd person just because I suck at anything with "I" o.o; and "I" makes reviewing, reading and writing that much harder.
