Throughout the years, each new generation has brought something new to the franchise. Not everything stayed, but a majority did. Whether it's moving sprites, genders, breeding advances, even a new item, what is your favorite new thing to hit the franchise so far?

For me, it's the Vs. Seeker. Makes grinding a whole lot easier. Sadly, it's only in FRLG and DPPt, and those are my least favorite games. I wouldn't know if it's in BW.

Probablyyy... rare candies. Because they are rare. And something about them just excites me. If not - the itemfinder/whatever it is now.

I don't know if this counts, but I like the fact it's easier to obtian shinies through breeding (the Masuda method). I hate chaining and all that jazz. :)

There's so many things I'm probably forgetting, but one thing that made the games awesome from the start was the feature with link cables. That was cool, but required you to know people that also play the game. So what was really innovative was the Wi-Fi features. Yes it's a staple for a lot of DS games, but it's great to be able to play against people all over the world.

But with items, one that's been there since the start: The bike!

There's no time for walking! :P

Vs. Seeker. A relatively easy way to gain quick experience and cash, and saves you the trouble of dealing with wild Pokemon who give out fewer experience points than their trainer-owned counterparts, not to mention not giving out any money at all.

-The Vs. Seeker (it lets you have rematches with other trainers without having to call them up every single time)
-The physical/special split (some Pokemon became more useful because of this).

I'm respecting nothing unless they add devolution spray. Ahar.

But, okay... running shoes. In G/S/C it was pointless having the select button's usage (itself a notable innovation) since it needed to be the bike in order for that item to do its job of saving time. Fumbling about in one's bag for the bike as in R/B/G/Y just makes me not bother and go on simply walking; so it was nice having an item that let the player character move at a good pace, freeing the select button for, say, the itemfinder or a fishing rod, both of which usually need to be used multiple times in one instance to do what they do effectively.

There's too much stuff to mention! I'm very happy with each gen's advances. However, if I had to choose just one, I would say that it's definitely the special/physical split; suddenly useless monsters became useful, and a lot more depth was added to the game.

Also, my Gengar can totally rock out a Shadow Ball now :DD

Clearly the VS Seeker. Despite the fact that all the pointless walking it requires is horribly annoying and it doesn't work in caves, it is still massively useful.
This counts for both item and innovation, doesn't it?

physical/special split. Finally Wobbuffet works for me (couldn't use it in Emerald, I didn't understand why a move like "Bite" or "Fire Fang" couldn't be Countered.

Amore,Fire Fang was introduced in Gen 4 not Gen 3.

My Favorite Item is the generic VS Seeker, wihtout it I hate grinding.Becuase even though how cool or unique the Phone system is,VS Seeker will always be better.

My Favorite Innovation is Abilities, without it the game is just boring it adds Unique-ness.Because we all know that without Technition Scizor would probably be in UU.

The lucky egg is awesome, especially when you're raising Pokemon and need to do so in a hurry.

My favorite item was/is the Heart Scale.
    1. You could trade it to teach newly caught high leveled Pokemon moves they forgot.
    2. They're pretty.

Another was the Vs. Seeker. Seeing people get stronger after just one battle by about 10 levels was pretty cool to me.

Running shoes. In games like Pokémon, I can be impatient and would really be annoyed without the extra speed.

And I don't think anyone would pay attention to this, but I'm glad that G/S added a quick HM function. I mean, seriously. I could die playing Pokémon with all those darn puzzles and keep having to go the menu over and over again.

And finally, I'm glad G/S added the SELECT ITEM feature too. I usually put the Bicycle there, because I don't want to keep using the menu.

    Vs Seeker + Exp. Share
    Let the lvl. up comence!

My first choice was gonna be the running shoes, but since it's already been said by others...

The specific divisions within the bag. Like the running shoes, being able to access different items quickly was a huge convenience. After playing Gen III - IV games on a regular basis, going back and playing my old Blue version nearly drove me insane, primarily because ALL the items are in one long list.

Oh god yes, that thing made leveling up so much easier. I didn't realize how much I used it until I played Pokemon games where it didn't exist. Also, gender differences added a lot of realism that I really appreciated.

I'm going to repeat like everyone said. The Vs. Seeker would have to be the greatest item ever to be released. It's too bad that it was only released for two generation. They should realize how great this item is and make it appear in all games. Without it, grinding can be really boring, and I can never battle all of the past trainers.
