Favourite 2nd evolution starter pokemon

With the addition on gen VI starters I thought I'd make up another poll to include them ^.^

Great question 8D I love many of the middle evos of the starters, and shall post several votes even though we can only pick one in the poll.

Charmeleon is my obvious favorite. It is sleek and has lost the innocent looks of Charmander but still doesn't look as dorky as Charizard (no offense, Charizard lovers!)

In the same way, Wartortle is a perfect in-between for the cute Squirtle and the bulky looking Blastoise. Loved it in the anime, also.

I was happily surprised when my Torchic evolved in Ruby. Fire/Fighting! In Hoenn, it was still cool and not overdone like in Unova. Combusken has a rather perfect look, imo. Again, it's the perfect link between the cuddly basic pokémon and badass final evo Blaziken<3

I guess Grovyle deserves a mention, just because I really liked that it wasn't four-legged, and its leaf blades were really cool. Never used it much in the games though.

Okay, this is probably my second favorite. Monferno is cool on its own, much better than Chimchar and not as overdone as I can feel Infernape being. Absolutely love its looks, and again its typing because a fire monkey fits well as a fighter somehow.

Third favorite, probably. Dewott was definitely an improvement from the rather weird looking Oshawott (again, no offense to those who love. I just compare it with Piplup too much and I like the penguin more!) and still not as strangely complicated as the four-legged Samurott. Dewott looks amazing with its two shells and feisty stare.

All in all, I guess my favorites are those that aren't trumphed by their prevos or evos, Charmeleon & Monferno & Dewott. While others can be really cool but have even better evos or prevos (Bulbasaur, Blaziken, Empoleon). :3

I love most of the 2nd evolutions and I sometimes can't bring myself to evolve them XD In my Y playthrough I have an Ivysaur with an Evolite attached to him and he stayed like that for the rest of the game :P Despite temptations to have a mega venusaur.
Quilava is definately my fav but I'm a huge fan of the gen 1's, bayleef, oshawott and braixen :)

 

[Hiatus]

I love Grovyle, personally. (: It's got extremely fierce look in its eyes, making it seem as if it would be willing to get any of its job done regardless of what it takes. Most Grovyle also have a cool personality, which makes it easier for us to get along with them. Competitive-wise, this Pokémon isn't all that bad. It has a base Speed stat of ninety-five, which is a lot. It can outrun many of the Pokémon listed above. It's got a great selection of moves in its arsenal as well.

Charmeleon would have to be my second favorite. Its body color is dark red, which is a bit different than Charizard and Charmander. It also looks pretty tough, which I really like! If its claws were longer, maybe, then it would've looked even tougher. Only thing that I don't like about this Pokémon is its belly. It looks a little… extended. xD They should've made it a little more slim.

My favorite 2nd favorite 2nd evo always goes to Dewott, none of the others even come close. Also Dewott is my overall #7 favorite Pokemon. My main reason is that is an otter! I love them.

I feel really saddened I have not been able to transfer one to my X or Y teams, really want too, and to play with it on Pokemon Amie! I can just imagine it

Aside from my reason above, it's also been a good battler in my teams - never let me down. Having two scalchops much better looking than Oshawott & Samurott (majority of my games I never had the heart to let Dewott evolve!).

Dewott for me, he's basically a perfect mix of cute and tough.

Braixen and Frogadier come quite close.

Quilava and Charmeleon were neck to neck for me, but Quilava takes it away. I love the fire flaring from his back, so cool

I do like a good number of the middle evolution starters, and if this was a multiple choice poll, I would've included Wartortle, Charmeleon, Grovyle and Quilladin in my selections. But since I could only pick one, my vote went to Dewott. I think this is one of the few times where I actually prefer a middle evolution to a final stage one, but Samurott as a Pokmeon never really interested me. Dewott on the other hand is a great progression from Oshawott, and still looks cute and fierce enough to appeal to everyone.

The middle evolutions really need more love don't they? I wanted to vote for about 4 or 5 of these little guys because I really do like a lot of them. I decided to vote for Grovyle though as I have always just been a huge fan of it's design. It just really looks like a cool and powerful Pokemon with those leaf blades.

The good ol' days when Grovyle was new. He was seriously amazing back then; and he still is now! He's got some great moves, a moveset mixed between Grass Type and Dark Type moves. The days when Leaf Blade was his signature move was seriously amazing. His stats are good too, and his speed is great! I don't know what to think of it's evolution though, as I'm not really fond of it. :s

It'd be between Grovyle and Quilava for me. Both look badass, but in the end I prefer Quilava in the slightest. Something about a fire weasel is infinitely cool. However, I like Sceptile more than Typhlosion.

before 6th gen it was wartortle! i think that wartortles are adorable with their floofy tails and ears, and the little markings on their cheeks.

Voted for Ivysaur, although I like Charmeleon equally. Bayleef would be my third favourite.

Id have to go with Monferno.
Im not a huge fan of Diamond and Pearl, but id have to say Monferno really boosted my outlook on it, given its sheer power.

For some reason I tend to like the middle evolutions the best of the three stages for most of the starters. They always seem to be the coolest designed and not overly ornamented like I think some of the third stages are.

Ivysaur gets my all time favorite, and second favorite pokemon overall too.
After that, Quilava is pretty sleek, then Wartortle.
