Beasts, they simply have the best desgins. A close second would be the Regies (I always called them that.) because I had so much fun catching them once upon a time. Looking up on the Internet how to unlock their caverns, the puzzles to get to them, and spending all of those resets to get them.
 
Funny how I'm going to vote the Musketeers, yet I've not yet played 5th Gen. x)

But they've got the coolest designs and typings in my opinion. :]
 
Wow. the Gen IV and V trios are out of the question because they are way too similar. Think about it, in Gen I, the birds were three completely different pokemon with creative designs. Same goes with gen II and III. But then, in gen IV, they created the lake trio. Ugh. They look like the exact same pokemon just with different coloring... And, OMFG, they are all the same type. *faints*

the Kami trio. Hmm... Are you sure they are not all the same pokemon sprite, just with different tails and coloration? Oh, that's right, they are! Yeah, that's not a good thing. There was absolutely no creativity involoved in making these guys. Guys? Oh that's right they are ALL MALE. *faints again* And what's up with Landlos? His number in the pokedex is so far away from the other two, he's not dual-typed, and he has a completely different moveset from the other too.

The musketeer trio. I don't know anything about them, but based on what i do know, they don't seem to be related in anyway, besides the fact that they are all dual-typed fighting pokemon... But i really shouldn't be judging them since i know little to nothing about them, so...

tl;dr My favorite trio is the legendary golems.
 
I' say the beasts idon't knw why there just cool lol.
 
Out of the ones you listed i would have to go with the Legendary Golems - Regice, Registeel and Regirock.
 
I like the Lake Guardians the best, because of their cute pixie-like designs. Plus it surprises me they're even legendary Pokemon. And they live in lakes--how cool is that? ;P
 
i like the lake trio. i think theyre cute,and they live underwater and from what ive seen and heard of the anime it seems that if theyre asleep theire soul can leave the body without them dying!
ps u forgot 2 trios: kyogre groudon rayquaza and dialga palkia giratina
pps if u could also pick a duo, it wouldve been the sky duo(latios and latias)
 
I guess I like the dogs/beasts/whatevers the most. When I think "Legendary Trio", those are the ones that come to mind first. Everything after them I find really boring or lame. :/ Especially the pixies in gen 4 (all the same type? whyyyy??), though I honestly have like no idea what the two (!!! x_x) sets in Gen 5 are, so I have no real opinion on them yet. I kind of hate them just for the fact that there are two sets though, haha.
 
I'd go with Musketeers as well, fighting is a great type to have plus sacred sword is a cool attack. After that the regis, they were the ones I had the most fun finding.
 
My favorite would have to be the 3 from the first generation.
Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno.

I just can't help but like them best. :)
 
i like the beasts the most. they look ferocious and were a challenge to catch. but the new kami legendaries, the ones that look like genies, are a close second
 
I guess I would go with the beasts. I've just always liked their designs, even though trying to catch them all was a bit annoying. XD The birds would probably come second. I don't really like any other trios, really. They're just too similar for my taste. I don't know how Pokemon designs generally got more complicated with each generation... but then the trios got more and more alike. DX

And... *just looked at the Muskateer trio* Oh, they seem cool. Okay. They can be tied for second. XD I hadn't seen them before.
 
Even with the addition of the musketeer and kami trio I still think the legendary birds are the best. Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres all have wonderful designs in my opinion and they capture the essence of their element/type well. Not to mention I have too much history with the three of them to just simply over look them. Articuno was my first holographic Pokemon card and Moltres was the first legendary bird I ever caught. While Zapdos has become one of my all time favorite legendaries.

I should also mention that I've come to really like the musketeer trio. Mostly for the water horse Keldeo, which isn't even in the trio sadly. It's off to the side. :( Poor water horse. Although why it's off to the side makes sense, but still.
 
The beasts by far win it for me. They are the most unique, imo and really demonstrate Johto well, considering it's meant to be very feudal Japan-like in Ecruteak city. After all, the Lion of Foo, Raiju, and Quilin are all feudal Japanese beasts! I like the story of Ho-oh ressurrecting them as well.

In addition, I just really love Entei and Raikou. Lions and tigers with fire/thunder powers and mustaches? Yes, please.
 
The Regi Trios. Their designs are rather interesting and cool. Plus I love 3rd gen. :)
