Sports Favourite teams?

Are you an avid supporter of any sporting teams? Was it something that runs in the family and thus you grew up with, or something else?

For me, when I was playing basketball a lot back in the day I really got into the Philly 76ers! I don't watch as much as I used to, but do try to keep up to date where I can.

The biggest sport here is football, and I've just never cared much about it. I'll watch the European/World championships when they're happening but otherwise I never watch it.
So I guess I'm a not so avid supporter of the Dutch football team =P

I like watching basketball on TV but there isn't really any specific team I'm rooting for as I rarely catch a game on in the first place. They tend to get aired at rather unfortunate times.

I used to be a Ferrari fan when I was growing up because I enjoyed the history behind them but they done some questionable things at one point and I pretty much just started following drivers instead.

American sports I have drifted to different teams at various points in my life if the feel around them has changed ie: them not standing up for something important to me etc.

That is the major advantage to not being from a team's hometown - I don't feel obligated to support them if I feel they don't deserve it anymore - unlike my partner who is from a place where supporting a certain team is very much expected of you depending on where you live and even what religion you or your family members are.

That said, my heart usually does keep the flame alive - I will always be a Steelers fan for instance, even if I couldn't bring myself to "support" them for a while.

Tbh, the sports I still tend to follow are things like ice skating and gymnastics which are more about the individual for me. I still follow cycling, which is very much a team sport, but again I tend to be more interested in individual riders rather than their teams there as well.

omg same, I used to be the biggest Ferrari fan when I was much younger! Unfortunately also the same though when I was a bit older and could see what the teams were doing (both generally and to the drivers themselves), so much better and less of a headache to root on for the individuals instead.

Which is kinda wild actually, in a lot of things I think I'm finding myself doing that rather than like sticking to the team nowadays?
