FE versus FF

Its hard. One is an SRPG while the other is a JRPG, both have amazing worlds and characters, and the art never disappoints. The only thing Fire Emblem has going over Final Fantasy is the overarching plot in some games.

Fire emblems plot is easier to follow than final fantasy's. Definitely fire emblem is a better series the final fantasy atm since xv is nothing but dissappointment from what I've seen.

I don't even know why this is a comparison. The two, aside from being RPGs, are NOTHING alike.

I'll give it to Fire Emblem ONLY because it has no true "bad" game. (I wouldn't call Awakening a bad game) The series has consistent quality, which is more than I can say for Final Fantasy.

Neither stand out in terms of lore and characters, honestly. Fire Emblem does a better job in having you care for the characters because their fate really is on your hands, but they're hugely one dimensional and generally bland. Final Fantasy is a bit better in that regards, though the lore is way more stupid.

Hmm the only thing you can compare here is Final Fantasy Tactics vs Fire Emblem. Though I haven't played the original game for the PS, Tactics Advance and A2 were great games.

FE had more story added to most playable characters, but FFT made it possible for you to recruit loads randomly generated characters. And where FE's story was much better received, FFT offered many sidequests, greatly increasing its re-playability.

One thing I really liked about FE is that you could calculate how much damage an opponent would do to you in battle, before even getting in range. The GBA versions and Path of Radiance also had Fog of War, adding another element to the game.

FFT felt more "complete" to me though. Everything had a little description, from weapons to locations. To me, that added a lot to the game.

If I had to choose between the two of them, I'd go for FFT, simply becasue it offers a lot more replay value than FE. They're both great though, and I'm glad I get to play them both.

I have to say FE is my prefered series because FF made a drastic change that I just didn't like when it moved to the Playstation. Since then, it's been becoming more like some sort of strange anime that you have to play through than an actual RPG. Granted, a lot of RPGs use anime-esque stuff, but it's gotten to the point in FF where it doesn't even feel like a game anymore.

I'm an eternal fanboy of FF despite the many huge missteps that Square Enix has made, and Final Fantasy Tactics is my favorite game ever so yeah. I really don't like FE at all but the animations in the GBA games are top notch and the character designs have always been appealing.

FF is probably the worst series you can use to compare though. The philosophy of the entire franchise is to make drastic changes to the formula for better or worse, and it's hard enough to compare the FF games.

Mmm, well, I'll agree that FE and FF are really great series of games, but the two don't have really similar qualities, but, of course, I'm a biiig Fire Emblem fan, so, of course I have to go with that, ahah. But don't get me wrong, I honestly love some of the Final Fantasy games, like FF5 and FF3.

My only peeve with them is I can never really relate to Final Fantasy characters much - sometimes I feel that some characters in those games are.. kind of shallow. Well, Fire Emblem has a lot of characters like that, but, honestly I think Final Fantasy could of had the potential to stick out more. Another thing is mechanics; I find the mechanics in Fire Emblem more easy to get than Final Fantasy. Of course, Final Fantasy does have really good and interesting mechanics, but, I feel as though I can be more -technical- with Fire Emblem. If that makes sense.

But again, both are great series of games, and I can't wait for their next installments.

Well, I have yet to play a bad Fire Emblem game, yet I've played plenty of bad Final Fantasy games...

...that said, the FF games I've really enjoyed - VIII, XII, and the Tactics series - I've enjoyed a lot more than the Fire Emblem games I've played...which isn't all of them, since I don't believe they've all been localized, but even so. Really, only FF Tactics and FE are directly comparable, and between the two I'd definitely say I prefer FF Tactics; whilst the gameplay isn't quite as engaging (the permanent unit death brings out the obsessive perfectionist in me; I just HAVE to keep characters alive, even if I loathe them, making it more...personal?) the story is infinitely better - I love the world of Ivalice.

But, if we're comparing them in general, I'd say as a series I prefer Fire Emblem, but I prefer individual Final Fantasy games.

I'm afraid I don't have a "good" reason or detailed analysis for liking Fire Emblem more. I discovered them both when I was a kid, but Final Fantasy's difficulty was obviously a big turn-off for a kid (I'm talking I, II, and IV). Fire Emblem was much easier to get into, so it's no wonder I grew up loving Fire Emblem more than Final Fantasy.

Also, Super Smash Bros. Melee didn't have any Final Fantasy characters. XD

I'll give it to Fire Emblem ONLY because it has no true "bad" game. (I wouldn't call Awakening a bad game) The series has consistent quality, which is more than I can say for Final Fantasy.

Not true because Shadow Dragon exists. It sold well because it was a remake of the first game, but a very dire one in terms of graphics and characterization. Awakening is vastly superior.

Shadow Dragon is dated and has some really weird design choice that didn't sit well with most people. (Lol kill your characters to unlock more missions) I wouldn't call it bad, it's decent.

It still feels like Fire Emblem though, which is more than I can say for Awakening.

God both series are both good. I feel like the FE series has produced more higher quality games than the FF series has but I enjoy the Final fantasy series more. Also, there have been so many Final Fantasy games, the Final Fantasy Tactics are what bosted the series about FE for me. I'm not a big RPG fan, but I would spend countless hours on Tactics for the GBA when I was in Middle School.
