Final Fantasy Fan Club

Oh goody, a FF thread!

Topic answer: Favorite Song has to be the FFV battle theme, and a lot of the stuff from FF12.
Final Fantasy games you've owned:
FF Dawn of Souls, FFVA,FFVIA, FFX,FFXII, FFCC,FFCC: RoF, FFCC: EoT, FFXII RevenantWings, FF Crystal Bearers. Yeah, I love CC a lot, sucks to see it dead.

Welcome to the club!

I can probably name every song on the ffx ost. But other than that I don't know a lot of the songs, I listen to mixes a lot more than the actual ost. I know most boss battle themes but of course those are the most memorable, and I can name all of the battle themes.

To Zanarkand is beautiful. <3 I can't name a lot of FFX tracks off the top of my head anymore aside from the more iconic ones, but To Zanarkand definitely was (and still is) one of my favorite Final Fantasy tracks ever.

FFX-2 gets a lot of crap for bastardizing the FFX name and characters or whatever, but it still has a great soundtrack. I love Eternity: Memory of Lightwaves - I remember when I started up the game, I used to just sit and look at the title screen forever so I could listen to the song.

When I was 10 or 11, I also bought the sheet music book for FFX-2, so I learned to play that on piano, and also 1000 Words and a few others.

I really liked the CC soundtrack, too - The Burdened is another one I plan to learn how to play (I think I printed the sheet music at one point but never really got around to learning the whole thing). Then there's also Sky Blue Eyes, Moonlight Wandering, and of course, The Price of Freedom.

As you can tell, I kinda prefer the melancholic ones over the more high-energy tracks. :P I mean, they're great when you're playing, I just rarely listen to them outside of the game.

Do you still like to learn how to play music from the games, or do you still play music really? Since I never learned how to play piano, three years ago when I learned how to play tuba I started learning how to play some of the songs that more orchestral since I could now play enough instruments to cover all the parts and I really find it more enjoyable than just listening to the songs. There's a really good site where people upload scores for the music that they created either by ear or from having the scores already and just translating it for other people to play and if you're still interested in playing I could share with you some of it.

That would be awesome. I actually have not played piano in a really long time - I finished level 8 when I was 15 or so and decided to focus more on school work, so I quit lessons and only played casually, but after a while it went from a couple times a month to practically never, and I found that I've forgotten most of the songs I used to have memorized. Buuut it's one of those things I keep promising myself I'll pick up again, when I'm not so lazy. :P New songs to learn might help me get back to it. c: Is it a site for all kinds of songs in general, or just video game music?

Haha yea I did the same exact thing with guitar, I took lessons for about 5 months and then figured everything else out on my own, played for a couple of years then never touched it again and now I even lost my guitar. :/

And it's a site for all kinds of songs in general, but there's a lot of video game music because that's just what's interesting to most people. I've used it to write a couple of things but nothing too extravagant. I don't know if the stuff people write is too hard or too easy, but there is a good mixture, and some people don't always write it out perfect; transposing and just writing in general is a lot of hard work, but fixing a few notes here and there isn't too bad.

Spent a few minutes rooting around the site - it's got a pretty impressive collection. I mean, I found songs from really popular games, like the FF scores and Skyrim, but it's even got sheets for some of the more obscure, indie games. Thanks for sharing!

And yeah, I know what you mean - transposing from ear can be really hard so I don't expect some of these to be perfect, but the ones I've seen so far aren't bad. It's cool that they let you listen to it first, so you have an idea of what it'll sound like before downloading.

Topic answer: Favorite Song? From FF Price of Freedom. From Video games in general: Dearly Beloved. From Comedic Music: Slim Shady From actual music: Fly me to the Moon From 90s Music: I Want it that way From 2000s music: Er don't know.
Final Fantasy games you've owned: A lot don't feel like listing them I even have Advent Children...

Probably Zack Fair because his personality is most like mine.

I'd like to sign up, my interest in these games has grown a lot over the last year. While I'm a relative newbie compared to you guys, I'm sure I'll be catching up shortly.

Topic answer: I realise that favourite song isn't the current topic anymore, but I love The Promise from XIII so much that I sort of have to mention that anyway.

To answer the current one about memorable scenes, I guess I'll spoiler it up just in case anyone has managed to play even fewer FF games than me.

Spoiler:

Final Fantasy games you've owned: VII, X, X-2, XIII, XIII-2, XIV:ARR. So not many and I've only completed X and XIII while being incomplete in the others for various reasons ranging from losing saves (VII) to glitches preventing progess (XIII-2) to waiting to be able to pay for subscription (obviously XIV in that case). I've only just started X-2 so hopefully I'll have it finished soon.

Choose a FF character to represent you (optional): Most of the cool characters from X are chosen so I'll go with Lumina (if I'm allowed that, she's not playable like most people's choices so if not just Lightning will be fine). It'd be nice to be able to change later as I play more of the games though if that's possible.

Topic answer: Most memorable scene for me...Edea's little parade, and the events surrounding it, at the end of the first disc of Final Fantasy VIII. Things really started to pick up at that point, and it suddenly got a lot more exciting.
Final Fantasy games you've owned: All of the current mothership titles except for XI, plus all three Tactics games, both Dissidia titles, Theatrhythm: Curtain Call, Crisis Core, X-2, XIII-2 and Lightning Returns. I've got most of them on my PSP, which is the unofficial "Final Fantasy" console for me.
Choose a FF character to represent you (optional): Hmmm...can I have Caius Ballad? I wasn't overly keen on XIII-2, but I did like him...not only because he was an actual villain (which I felt XIII lacked) but because he was voiced by Liam O'Brien. xD

Welcome to the club everyone!

New topic, sorry I've been slacking again. :/

Have you ever seen any of the final fantasy movies or anime/shorts?

Thanks~

I've seen Advent Children (both the normal version and the complete version), Last Order, and The Spirits Within. Advent Children I liked well enough, although I still think they chose the wrong voice actor for Sephiroth - Crispin Freeman would have been a much better choice, and the annoying thing is that he nearly landed the role. Good fight scenes and soundtrack, though...about what I expected, really. Last Order was a nice alternate take on some of the events of FFVII, although to be honest I preferred Crisis Core's take on them...if only because Genesis was in Crisis Core. xD

The Spirits Within is one of the most disgracefully awful films I have ever had the misfortune of seeing, though...

When it comes to the Final Fantasy movies, I have watched The Spirits Within and Advent Children Complete. I thought The Spirits Within was pretty good when I watched it. As for Advent Children Complete, when I watched it on Netflix, the one I found there was the one with Japanese audio. Good thing I had subtitles on so I would understand what was being said.

The only one I've seen is Advent Children (which may seem odd since I haven't finished VII, but I already knew the plot for some reason) and it's pretty good. I think I'll rewatch it again after finishing VII and see if there's a few more things I pick up on.

Spirits Within doesn't seem like something I want to watch given the reviews and looking at a few screenshots it doesn't give off much of a Final Fantasy feel.

I've seen the Final Fantasy OVA Legend of the Crystals, the Final Fantasy Unlimited anime, and both versions of Advent Children. I still haven't gotten around to fully watching the spirits within and I don't think that I ever will since the reviews for it really aren't the best and I didn't so much like what little of it I saw.

I actually liked The Spirits Within, despite the less than positive reviews. It has been quite a few years since I've seen it though, like.. 7 years? I think I was 13 when I saw it lol, so who knows, maybe my opinion of it will change if I see it again.

And I've also seen both versions of Advent Children. Certain parts felt a bit over the top and gratuitous, like that ridiculous scene where everybody helps throw Cloud at Bahamut SIN, but otherwise I liked it a lot.

I'd like to watch Last Order too, but to my knowledge there is no English dub, and I kinda prefer that to subs.

Now before you decide an answer for this topic, take into consideration all of the Square games you've played, all the spells, the summons, the assistants, and pretty much anything that would help a character get an upper hand over another while not including other standalone characters into the process.

Out of all the games made by Square, which character do you think is the strongest?

I haven't played too many of the games compared to some of you guys so it may seem like a poor response, but forgive me if that's the case.

But I'll say Yuna is the strongest as her aeons are stronger than a lot of the other summons I've seen in other FF games especially if you have the item that prevents the damage limit. Even without that, both Bahamut & Anima can inflict ridiculous amounts of damage. Add in the fact that she can heal herself and Holy is a very strong offensive spell and I think that makes her pretty darn strong. I'd say really it's hard to determine the strongest though since with the right collection of items, a lot of characters in a lot of the games can cause ridiculous amounts of damage and all have unique purposes outside of causing a lot of damage.

Hm. I'm not really sure. Auron maybe? I don't really know. It's not something I've thought of in terms of a strength. I guess you could see each character has their own kind of strength, which makes it really hard to choose just one person.

Hey, I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy, I would like to join the club ^^

Topic Answer : Are we talking about all Square games, and not only Final Fantasy games? If yes, and if we talk about mental strenght (well, I hope you understand what I mean by this) I would go for Neku from The World Ends With You. At the start of the game, is bored from life but still, he manages to survive until the end of the game, even if (spoiler for those who haven't play it) he kills his friend.
Final Fantasy games you own : Here we go, I'll try to forget nothing XD
Main serie : I&II (PSP version), III (DS), IV (DS), VI (PS1), VII (PS1) / DoC / CC, VIII (PS1), IX, X/X-2 (PS2), XII/RW, XIII/XIII-2/LR
Side series : Tactics Advance / Crystal Chronicles : Ring of Fates / Crystal Chronicles : Echoes of Time / FF Fables : Chocobo Tales / Dissidia 012 / The 4 Heroes of Light / Theatrhythm Curtain Call
Choose a FF character to represent you : No ideas, I'll pass ^^
