Sadly, it makes sense. Vriska can't let herself be happy. And she'll do anything in her power to invalidate the happiness of others, even her own, along the way. It's like every time she makes it out of whatever crisis alive, she's doomed herself anyway. Deluded into thinking the only goal here is victory when, really, there is no end game for her. :(

Though, if I remember correctly, it's not uncommon for red couples to jump between black and red romance, right? Perhaps this is similar to that as well.
