The thing is, there are several different Romansh dialects and the government are always discussing which one the children should learn at school. So I think if there are any Romansh-speaking people left in a hundred years, they will all speak the same dialect.

I think it'd be such a sad thing for it to die. Amongst the Romance languages it is by far the most unique.

Ugh I feel you on the soft drink thing. I used to drink them all the time but now I can't even stand the smell of them. Tea is pretty awesome too, especially when you're freezing in winter like me. As for EGC yeah I lost contact with pretty much everyone too. I really miss my other directions... :(

Hello my name is Staralfur I grew up in southwestern Ohio in the United States. I was introduced to the world on August 30th, 1995 to a loving family. I think that environmentalism, health, minimalism, humanism, and practicality are important ideals to me. My hobbies include listening to music, looking at photography, thinking about life, and reading articles.

I am of Swedish, English, and German descent and really resonate with my Swedish ancestry. I really enjoy learning about culture, language, and linguistics; because of this I speak English, French, have a decent understanding of Swedish, and I dabble in German and Dutch.

I believe having long term goals and dreams is important to the development of people and they lead to a purpose and a better life. To that end I have long term goals of my own that I hope to accomplish by some unspecified time in the future:

1. Move to Sweden
2. Become a vegetarian (perhaps a vegan)
3. Reduce waste in my personal life
4. Reduce the amount of my personal belongings

There are some interesting facts about me. I don't drink soft drinks, I gave it up in 2014 and haven't had a sip of it since. I love sparkling water and mineral water, and drink it all of the time. I really enjoy jogging (when the weather allows it). Canada is the only other country I've visited. If given the chance I would rather walk to a place than take some alternate form of transportation. I think the Union Jack is the best designed flag in the world.

My family emigrated to America from Jönköping in the early 1900s. They took a boat from Göteborg and said goodbye to Sweden forever, I wish they had stayed xD. Once I get better at Swedish maybe. Learning a language is always a chore. Also I want to formally file a complaint against sj, sk, and k in Swedish, they are dumb.

You're also the only Swede I've met who loves Sweden. All I hear about are muslims invading and ruining everything.

I love my country and am glad that I grew up here.

It's true that we're suddenly a lot less homogeneous country than we were a few decades ago and that we haven't quite adapted so there's a lot of hmmm well actually racism here now. But in the end I think it'll sort itself out if we're all respecting each other as human beings c: People just get a bit ticked off when the immigrants bring their culture here instead of adapting to our Swedish culture, I think. We all most often inherently favor our own way of doing things haha.

Yeah I think it's understandable for a nation-state to be worried about a completely unrelated culture coming into their area. Especially when they're not economic migrants but refugees that doesn't help at all. I also think that the Swedish humanist attitude lends itself to the seeming racism because the term I'd argue is much broader as to offend the least amount of people possible. All that being said though I think it still seems like a wonderful place to be and I really want to be there.

I always find European attitudes towards different cultures very interesting because I live in a nation made of immigrants. While we still have our issues with it too there's a very different attitude towards anyone who wants to come over. Europeans as a whole seem to be much more reactionary and almost scared that they're losing their culture (from my perspective anyway). I do find it interesting that Switzerland takes in so many people too especially for not being EU.

Language death is always sad. :(

But I feel young people have a better understanding of the world as a whole nowadays, therefore being more open and multicultural, whereas elder people still tend to be sceptical of immigrants. They want to keep their culture at all costs. It's pretty interesting. My grandparents are introverted people when it comes to immigrants, well they're almost racist you could say. But what's the point of that? What's the point of everyone hating each other? We have to help each other, take care of each other, no matter where we come from, we're all human eventually.
