You cop out of the nicknaming shenanigans because it will be unfair to Vulpix, who didn't even get a choice whether a nickname was in place or not apparently. You're happy to have obtained your first self-caught Pokémon, though! Now, will you proceed to Viridian City, train some more, or run back to Pallet Town to heal your newly caught friend?

The Pidgey faints! Gary is slightly annoyed, but smirks and sends out his Tentacool! Boy it sure looks stronger now. You feel that it already has Water-type moves, so Vulpix will certainly be at a disadvantage. Lillipup looks like it's about to faint. What will you do?

A confusion status on Lillipup! You fear for Lillipup's safety, but Vulpix might get washed down by Tentacool's attacks, so you try to get Lillipup to use a Tackle! It seems to have heard your command, and hits cleanly on Tentacool's body. However, Tentacool is still kicking, and to make matters worse, your Lillipup gets sprayed by Tentacool's boiling hot Scald! Thankfully Lillipup doesn't seem to have caught a burn, but you know now that Vulpix can't face that 'mon because of Gary's TM using tactics. What next?
