Firefox 3.5 will be released on June 30th

Firefox has confirmed that they will release the next version of their highly successful browser on June 30th, to meet their promised deadline of "the end of June".

I've been using the Beta versions since not long after 3.0 was released and have been incredibly pleased with the progress made. I suggest that you all try it out when it's released. If you aren't a Firefox user, now's a great time to give it a go. xD

This should be released over the next 24 hrs if Mozilla was implying a US date.

Wow, people still think Firefox is relevant? lol

I dunno, Safari 4 on windows seems pretty good so far scratch that, it still can't handle css well, but cloud.CONNECTED uses Safari 4 on her OSX

Opera sucks now (and I wouldn't support them after their whining about Microsoft bundling IE in their OS in Europe). IE is a joke. Safari for Windows is just lol why would you even do this. And I just don't like Chrome. :( Besides I'd miss my Livejournal addon so hard without Firefox. So yeah, it's still relevant.

I believe it is still relevant. I much prefer Firefox over any other browser I've every used, and the add-ons just make is so much more... awesome.

And I'll probably update today XD I'm still on 3.0.11 O_o

I like Firefox, but not like a like like. It's my fav web browser, but I don't drool everytime they talk about a new release. :\

Safari on Windows = Acid Test 100%. And it's a DX10 Accelerated Browser :D What more could you want?
Chrome is okay, I guess, too.

and Opera are fighting to make sure people won't have IE as the default choice; they'll be able to choose Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari, whatever. Sounds pretty noble to me~

I'll give it a try, at the very least it will make a decent back up browser.

Yeah but unless they fix the font rendering, I can't stand to use it. I know you can choose to render with Cleartype in Safari 4 but last I used it, it didn't work on some sites and just reverted back to Mac smoothing which looks ridiculous in native Windows. But yeah Safari has never, ever clicked with me.

:( Are they doing that for OSX too? When they start harrassing Apple to not include Safari with their product, then maybe I'll pay attention again.

wtf?! Firefox comes out with an update almost more than a month. D: I love firefox but... I hardly update it. I just let it update it forcefully when it restarts. XD

I'll probably get it though. I've used Firefox for five years now. :'D

Firefox and Chrome are my favorite browsers. Of the two, I would say Firefox is better, even though right now, I'm using Chrome.

Adblock Plus. Video Downloadhelper. Firebug. DownloadThemAll. SkipScreen.

Also, the Acid3 test mainly tests JavaScript and DOM compliance. The reason Firefox hasn't scored 100 on it yet is that the team has been focusing on speed and stability over making minor bugfixes (though it's now getting close; the RC scores 93/100).

Who's updated yet? I've got the steps to update to FF 3.5.
Fixed for accuracy.

Safari 4 on Windows 7 which I've been using on my notebook seems to use Windows Native rendering 100% of the time :3

well, I think the difference here is that Safari != Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is the chief reason for much of the malware in Windows Environments. Safari is rather much more secure. I think it's a matter of not lumping users with the worlds worst web browser as a DEFAULT, imo But more than that, Apple doesn't have a monopoly on desktop OS market share. I think Opera's problem is using an existing monopoly to further push another one. And they're not saying "Use our browser"; they're saying "Stop giving users no choice in having the one you provide".

Adblock exists for both Chrome and Safari; and the Safari Component actually uses the Adblock Plus filter lists. All the others you list are much of a muchness; especially DowntheMall which many server administrators despise for being aggressive. And blah blah blah, excuses excuses. If you can't adhere to web standards, don't make a web browser. Pretty simple. If you can't get 100/100 on Acid3, STOP PROMOTING YOUR NON-COMPLIANT BROWSER.

:( I have screencaps somewhere of it failing at rendering font properly on twitter (and yet it rendered fine on every other page I was visiting) and I think after that day I just stopped bothering with it because I see no benefit to using it.

Guess this is where we see differently. I think if they're doing it to one company, they should do it to another. So what if MS's product isn't the greatest? It's still their product however sub-par and if they want to bundle it into the OS they developed, they can do that imo.

Was it Safari 4, Final? I've been using it for everything I browse on my notebook, including Twitter ;3 And my eyes are pretty accustomed to Mac font rendering so I'd definitely spot it if suddenly there was gorgeous Mac rendering on my Windows machine in one App :D

But again, one monopoly to launch another. The EU is very strict on monopolies being used to further reach; thats why there's the WMP-less versions of XP for sale there. All Opera are doing is saying "If you're going to remove WMP, not not remove IE?"

I don't even know. I assume not because I don't remember explicitly downloading the final version and I didn't touch it since haha. Regardless! It's still missing my LJ addon so it couldn't be my main browser. :'(

lol too lazy for size tags and this is an argument for a thread that's already kinda dead anyway so I'mma drop it.

Firefox has always been horribly unstable for me in the past, and the add-ons equally pointless. I'm going to try it out for a little while, but I doubt it'll be any better for me. I'll likely end up sticking with IE8 and Safari (4?) with the occasional use of Opera (9?). Firefox has never impressed me and just seems like more hype than browser.
