Foreign language fiction

    Hello,

    I would like to ask a question which is probably both important and silly. I have been working on a fanfiction for over two years now, yet I don't know if I can publish it because it's in French. I'm pretty sure people would like it - they do in France, after all - but still... There are two questions, in fact:
    1> Can I publish it anyway, hoping a few people will be able to read it and - perhaps - one of them will want to translate it?
    2> Is there anyone who would be interested in translating a fanfiction from French to English? I'm asking it especially in case the first answer is no...

    I'm good at french, so I could probably read your fic no problem. I wouldn't mind translating it either, but that'll depend on what the story's about. If there is too much romance, the heck NO I will NEVER translate it.

    That just wouldn't work. Google Translator isn't a good tool for translating actual fiction - if I used it, the fiction would probably be impossible to read.

    Yes, do not use an online translator. They're not meant to do stuff like that, and the result would be absolutely hidious. I know, I've tried a couple of times for fun. The translation isn't really readable.

    Why don't you try translating the fic yourself? You could get yourself a beta to fix your mistakes - preferably one that knows French, so they can help you with the translating if you have problems. Translating the fic would teach you a lot of different things about English. Again, I know because I've tried. You might want to concider that possibility.

    Anyway, good luck with your fic! I'm not fluent enough with French to offer you my help. Francais est trop difficile pour moi! All I can do is to wish you good luck ^-^'

    Anyhow, joking aside, I'm here. And I'm agreeing with An-chan. If you post the fic without translating it, no one here will be able to read it, aside from the very very few French-speaking people. But, if you try to translate it yourself to English, you can learn the languages well. Besides, if you have questions about English, you can get a beta reader in our Beta Finder.

    But it's really up to you. You can either post in in French, and hope that someone can read it. Or you can translate it and have a beta reader go over it in English to help with the wording.

    I am a French teacher, from France. PM the WHOLE thing to me and it will be translated within 3 days ;D
