Kanto...
Spoiler:
![[PokeCommunity.com] *Foreigners (IC) [PokeCommunity.com] *Foreigners (IC)](https://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q113/themasterplan09/pokemonmap.png)
Plot...
Spoiler:
As in many other regions, pokémon training is at it's climax. Almost every kid wants to travel the region and build a pokémon team at some point in their life. Since studies have shown that people learn so much from this journey that they become more able and versed citizens and human beings, parents are encouraged to let their kids go as soon as they turn 10. One pokémon professor from each region is trusted with the mission to hand out the mandatory pokédex and starter pokémon to the new trainers. In Kanto, that professor is Oak from Pallet Town.
The problem with this inflation in young trainers is that many never reach the highest goal, which is to compete in the Pokémon League at Indigo Plateau. The one who wins there is crowned the Pokémon Master of the year. Many of these 10 year olds take years to finish their journey and beat all 8 gym leaders of Kanto. Only then do they gain entrance to the League competition. Many give up on the way.
To cure this, the gym leaders of Kanto have devised a new competition, together with professor Oak. It's called Master Quest and it doesn't involve rookie trainers... Instead, they call for experienced trainers from around the world to come to Kanto and catch Kanto pokémon and try to beat all the 8 gym leaders as fast as they can. The point is to encourage rookie trainers to fight harder! The contestants will get lots of prize money, even if they don't win... so it's worth sending in an application!
The rules are that they have to have at least some badges from either Hoenn, Sinnoh or Unova, but they cannot have become a Pokémon Master there yet. They have to bring only 2 pokémon from their home region to Kanto. The rest of the arsenal of pokémon that they want to use against the gym leaders and in the Indigo League, they have to capture and raise from scratch in Kanto.
Complications are, however, difficult to avoid... There are people who think that this extensive pokémon training means exploiting the poor pokémon by taking their freedom away and forcing them to fight. These people call themselves Team Shiro, or the Shironians and to get a message through to the general crowd, they will try to thwart the progress of the Master Quest contestants when these kids least expect it. They seem to have double moral standards, because they are using pokémon of their own to battle trainers now and then, trying to steal or "set free" the trainers' pokémon.
You should be on the lookout for the Shironians, as they will surely show themselves sooner or later. And not necessarily in a friendly way. Chances are, there is more to this competition than what meets the eye...

Rules:
- Normal PC/RP rules applies here.- Discuss things Out Of Character (OOC) in the other thread, post In Character (IC) in this thread.
- Use correct spelling and grammar (as good as you can) in your posts.
- I am the Game Master (GM) and I will play many characters that I won't make Sign Ups (SUs) for. Professor Oak, for example, as well as one of his assistants who is determined to find out more about Team Shiro...
- Post a SU in the OOC thread if you want to play, and wait for me to accept you. Reservations last for 24 hours.
- This will definitely not be a "chaptered" RP :3 I'm going to assume that you know the roads and cities in Kanto (if not, there are maps). If anything is different from normal, I will tell you when anybody gets there. Make posts where you're traveling and interacting as in any RP.
- If you want to capture a specific wild Kanto pokémon, I can tell you where it can be found. You can also ask me to post a list of available pokémon in your current area. Mostly I will let you find the wild pokémon that were there in the 1st and 2nd gen games. Which means Johto pokémon as well ;)
- Rating is T because this turned out to be darker than I first planned xD
- Be PATIENT. I won't have time to be online every day, but I'll try to be. Patience is just as important as activity. The line is fine~
- If you want to catch a new pokémon, end your post with the pokéball shaking or something like that. I will decide if the capture is successful or not, depending on how good your post and the battle or events that led up to the capture was.

About 'em levels...
There will be no real levels. Wild pokémon are considered to be around level 15, which will manifest itself by it knowing all the moves it should know at level 15. It can then learn all other moves it should learn by leveling up, by you writing about it "suddenly" learning a new move in battle or when training with you. But these moves can ONLY BE LEARNED IN ORDER. And not too often... I will raise a finger at you if you make your pokémon grow too quickly.HM/Tutor/Egg moves can also be learned, but then you will have to train your pokémon. That means that you have to either write about finding a "tutor" (an NPC) that teaches your pokémon that move, or you have to write about training with your pokémon until they have learned it. These moves takes much longer time to learn than leveling-up-moves.
TMs are discs that hold energy that pokémon can absorb on touch when the TM is activated. The energy allows them to learn a new move. TMs will be found now and then on your journey... I will let you know when.
Let me refer to the pokémon anime for examples. Pikachu's Iron tail and Buizel's Ice Punch were Tutor moves and Ash had to train with them for them to learn the moves properly. On the contrary, Pikachu's Electro Ball just popped into its arsenal one day in Unova, since it's a leveling up move in the 5th gen.
When you feel like you want one of your pokémon to evolve... ask me first.

Let the RP start...
Professor Oak & Keeno Kabess
Oak Lab, Pallet Town
Keeno peered through his thick glasses at the computer screen. A list of names were there. Kate, Will, Stephany... they were the Master Quest contestants. Interesting. If only life had played differently, Keeno could have been one of them! But he was pretty content with working as an assistant of, perhaps, the world's most famous pokémon professor. There was always something to do.
Now the professor entered the room on the far end and Keeno straightened up as well as straightened his dark grey shirt and the brown trousers. His dark black, almost blue, hair stood in all directions but it was not like the professor cared about how Keeno looked anyways. Not usually, at least. But this day was special.
"Feeling fresh, Kabess?" the professor asked when he noticed Keeno was there.
"Top of the morning to ya, professor!" Keeno replied. "Never felt better!"
"Soon, they'll be here," the professor said, making his way across the room to the computer at the wall where Keeno stood. "But it won't be as usually. We won't be handing out pokémon, because they have already gotten them!"
"I know," Keeno mumbled, rolling his eyes behind the professor's back.
"Are the pokédexes fully loaded on energy and in tip top condition?"
Keeno smiled. "Of course, professor!" he said and opened a metal drawer. It revealed a number of shiny new pokédexes, almost glimmering from the intense care the assistant had given them.
"You shouldn't have, Kabess..." the professor said, chuckling. "You know they'll get dirty after being with a trainer for five minutes."
Keeno's face drooped. "I know," he murmured. "I wish trainers wouldn't be so reckless."
"There, there, there are many kinds of trainers. They will all have different journeys and different stories to tell after all this!"
Keeno's eyes narrowed all of a sudden. "And all of those stories will include Team Shiro."
Professor Oak sighed. "Don't start that again."
"Why?" Keeno said, furiously. "Team Shiro is a threat to all trainers and sending even more out without investigating them or trying to get the police to stop them is-"
"The police are trying to stop them."
"Not well enough! They don't take Team Shiro seriously-"
"And neither should you. For Arceus's sake, they are just a bunch of lunatics. Shironians, their members are called! Just listen to the sound of that," the professor chuckled. "Besides, the Master Quest trainers will be experienced enough already to deal with people who don't even want to train their pokémon properly."
Keeno was fuming. "You are underestimating them. I... if... if no one else will, then I will get to the bottom of this!"
Professor Oak sat down on a chair and eyed Kabess for a silent moment. "You and what army? Your baby pokémon?"
Keeno swallowed and looked down at the pokéballs fastened at his leather belt. His tiny friends and helpers... they were no fighters. Not yet, at least.
"I'll get the trainers to help me," he said.
"The Master Quest trainers won't have time to help you, they are in a competition!"
"We'll see about that. Haven't you heard that the shironians are demonstrating against Master Quest in some towns?"
"Pfft, they don't even have guts to demonstrate in the bigger cities-"
"The point is that they will move against our trainers. They will be involved, sooner or later. Don't say I didn't warn you, professor," Keeno said with his most doom-like voice. It wasn't that impressive, but at least professor Oak finally shrugged and Keeno Kabess left the room.
What to do now?
After that, you are free to step out into Kanto and begin your Master Quest. Interact with the other players! Maybe find a travel mate? Or have a battle if someone's feeling up to it?
Since you're unlikely to cross the sea at this time, you'll probably reach ROUTE 1 first. It's a rather plain and short route with grassy fields and patches of forest, as well as farmlands. It takes about a day to reach the next town, which is Viridian City.
Route 1 wild pokémon:
*pokemonelite2000 image removed**pokemonelite2000 image removed*"image removed""image removed"*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Remember, wild pokémon may know all natural moves up to level 15, and your starting pokémon may know all natural moves up to level 30. Look here https://www.serebii.net/pokedex-bw/ if you don't know them by heart.
When you attempt to capture a pokémon, end your last post with the pokéball shaking or something. I will tell you if you managed to catch the pokémon or not.
Keep track of your own pokémon teams and what move they last learned. Preferrably in your sig or your SU post. I will link to your SU posts from this post.
