Welcome to my thread. You're probably wondering who the heck I am. Fair enough, I think it would be worth your time to give myself a proper introduction.
My name is Scott. I originally joined the Marriland forums back in 2012, because having watched his videos since his Diamond Adventure in 2007, you'd think I would join his forums eventually. So I did. I have liked my time on that forum. I have talked about him on these forums quite a bit, so as you can see i'm primarily native to his side.
So I found out about PokéCommunity while I was browsing videos on Monotypes, because I had finished a Monotype over on Marriland not too long prior, and I found stuff about the Ultimate Monotype Challenge from a certain user whom I won't name. And that's how I found out about this site. So I joined. And I came to like all the forums this place had to offer, so I stuck with it!
I did join other forums back in my years, but I don't want to go there. I will say this now, when I first joined Smogon in 2005, NOBODY liked me. Not a single person. I couldn't make five posts without getting ridiculed. I did not take being hated very well at all. There were a couple people, who, in few words, even said "people like you make the world worth destroying". Just to give you an idea of how terrible a person I was made out to be.
And on Marriland, I feel the exact opposite. Some people there have called me one of the most mature people they've gotten to know on that forum, and that I handle things nicely and constructively. It just really feels good being cared for.
For that matter, i've said this in my About Me on my profile, but i'm the kind of guy who's very passionate about his friends. I can get very appreciative when people are nice to me, and I care about making sure people are alright when they're upset. I might come off to some as over-appreciative. You can say i'm easily touched by girls when they're nice to me, but in real life I don't always get along with people.
And since I mentioned challenges, I will say that i've done a couple Nuzlockes and Monotypes on Marriland, and even his creation, the Wedlocke. I watched his Heart Gold Wedlocke series when he first made it, and it really makes the original Nuzlocke look tame in comparison. I like it because it REALLY requires you to plan out what you do with your team, since you can only use two Pokémon in battle and can't deposit stuff to your PC. I completed one myself and it was pretty awesome.
But here are more questions about me that are basic and i'm sure some of you will probably wonder:
Basics:
I basically live in Chester County, Pennsylvania, where i've lived all my life. As for siblings, I have a twin brother who lives in St. Louis, where he graduated from college back in 2013, and a sister who's three years older than me, married and living in Ohio. I currently reside at a small college in Radnor, known as Cabrini, which my parents thought would be best for me since it has way more to help people with disabilities and accommodations than bigger colleges do.
What are your three favorite Pokémon?
If someone held a gun to my head and made me choose my #1 favorite Pokémon, I would go with Lapras. Why? Because not only do I really like its design, but i've always been fond of it since Generation I. I've used it in so many of my playthroughs of RBY, GSC and their remakes. It has some balanced stats, nothing spectacular but they're still alright. It also gets a lot of neat moves. And I still remember the old Lapras card from the Fossil TCG set. So, I have so many fond memories with it that it is my favorite Pokémon, and probably will be forever. But the sad thing is, i've never used one in any of my BW2 playthroughs. xP Mostly because of how late in the game you get it and how hard it is to find.
Houndoom and Scolipede are my other two. Houndoom because it's one of those that i've always found awesome, even since GSC, and its concept was a twisted but awesome one. As for Scolipede, I like centipedes, and they made this one look really cool, made even better by the fact that a gigantic beast is not only really fast, but also gets cool moves like Megahorn, Earthquake and Rock Slide. You don't get that much nowadays, it's just really sick.
Aside from those two, my favorite from Hoenn is most likely Aggron. For Sinnoh it'd be Mamoswine, and as for Kalos i'd go with Pangoro.
What's your favorite television show?
Probably South Park. I know some people don't like it (particularly not the newer episodes) for the cruel-spirited manner it comes off as in most episodes, but I like it because it's completely over the line and pokes at quite a few of today's sources. And Eric Cartman is awesome. xP I also like How I Met Your Mother, because the comedy has been very clever, and has really built throughout and developed well. And leaves us guessing :P
And that's kinda it, I don't really watch much else that's currently airing nowadays, especially considering I don't have a TV in my dorm room.
Other than Pokémon, what game series are you into?
Not too much in particular. I do have an Xbox 360 at my parents' house, and have a decent share of games for it, like a couple FPSes and stuff like that. But i've hardly even looked at it anymore ever since I got Pokémon White 2. I'm mostly a Nintendo guy, so most of what I play nowadays is on the (3)DS. I didn't really grow up with any of the older consoles except the Game Boy, but I have played a few classics on the Virtual Console, ports and such.
What's your favorite band?
My musical tastes are pretty broad, but they can be unusual at times - I like pretty much anything, unless it sounds insanely boring or ear-killing. To name a few bands in particular, I do really like Rush and Dream Theater. They both have styles that are really complex, and have some nice, long songs. But yeah, I tolerate most music I listen to, for the most part.
But that's all i'm gonna mention for now! I'll try to answer any questions you have for me. So, yeah. Discuss.
