Question: Forums Username

I made this account a few years ago as you can see. Since then I go by another gamer name. I don't wish to make a new account becauseI don't want to lose my post or join date. I was pretty sure like 2 years ago or a year ago there was a username change request thread, where you could request a new username like for one time...I can't remember really though... Anyone tell me if it is possible to get my username changed? If so is it free or must I donate?

You cannot get your name changed, I'm afraid. You'll have to make a new account if you really want a new one. Only other option is to wait another who knows how many years till they can find a way to change usernames without messing up the server too much.

Name changes are no longer available. They stress the server too much, causing it to crash and potentially cause data loss... From what I've understood.

Audy is working on a way to alter the board's founding scripts to re-enable name changes, though.

You'll have to wait for that, or do what I did: make a new account. I lost my 2,500 post count, but I've regained 1/10th back in two weeks.

A lot of people seems to want to change their name. It could be cool if Audy would focus on the name change problem more thoroughly, so it'll be done more sooner? :D

Makes me kind of sad, just curious not trying to sound like a prick or anything but even if I donated a maybe 100 dollars at one time you don't think they would personally go in and change it for me?

Yeah, sorry about that.

There was a suggestion earlier about adding one Name Change to Tier 6 (100$ donation), but it was denied, too, because even if it's few, a server crash be a server crash, and overall =\= good.

I was never around when name changes were once available, but believe me, I too wish I could change my name :3c but I deal with the fact that I am stuck with what I chose..

also, do correct me if I am wrong but like last year there were a couple of tests on performing name changes and those caused the database to be down for a few hours :(

Yes, the test was on staff members, specifically [supporter]Forever[/supporter], Mac and Livewire.
