3rd Gen FR LG Monospecies Challange

Hmm. . .Could I do Spearow (and eventually have it evolve into Fearow of course^^)?
I have a few questions:
Do we only use the pokemon we choose? with no other pokemon in our party?
Do you just start the challange if you catch the pokemon {Spearow} in the wild?
Can we catch more of the same type and use them?

You're allowed to use as many of the Pokemon you choose. You may have HM slaves, but you can't use them in battle. You're allowed to use other Pokemon until you catch the species you're doing the challenge with, and you're allowed to use evolutions of it.

Day One

Boring start bit, got the pokeballs from the mart and caught two Rattata, trained them both up til level 10 and then defeated my Rival at Route 22. Travelled through Viridian Forest, where I trained the Rattata to level 13 so they had Hyper Fang for Brock.

Brock was an absolute pain in the butt, thankfully after 6 Tail Whips, Hyper Fang did quite a bit of damage.

Battled my way to Mt Moon, and stopped for a break.

Uhh, sorry for not updating my game, I have a generation I Gameboy Advance so my batteries keep dying on me, right now I am trying to aquire said batteries. So when I get some, its back to updating. Sorry again, you'd think that the runner of this challange would ya know, be good at updating.

Progress Made
- Started with Bulbasaur (for an easy time with Brock and so my Rival would have a Charmander)
- Made my way to Pewter City
- Defeated Brock with (with just Vine Whip)
- Stopped Bulbasaur from evolving.
- Caught three Nidoran-F, all with the natures I wanted. x]
- Went back and battled ALL of the trainers that I missed, includig Rival. Nearly finished all of the ones on Route 3.

Sure, I guess. I'm just trying to be helpful.
I'll post an update when I get more meaningful progress done, I'm having trouble against Starmie's water pulse. It can KO my Pikachu in 2 hits, and then Misty just uses potions after I get it close to death. I can't continue through Route 25 easily because of two hikers blocking my path, so I'm kinda stuck until I level up a bit.

After I manage to either a) Beat Misty, or b) beat those hikers, I can continue. Beating the hikers allows me to visit Bill, and I'll level up more along the way for Misty, and beating Misty could allow me to get Dig from that Rocket Grunt (pretty sure I need to visit Bill first, though).

Update time.

I visited Bill, defeated Misty for the Cascade badge, and made my way down to Vermilion City. I went through and defeated the trainers east of the city, in preparation for the SS Anne.

I trounced my rival, and proceeded to the Vermilion Gym. All of Lt. Surge's Pokemon fell in 1 hit, save Raichu (took 3 hits, not counting Surge's potion use). Now that the Thunder badge is mine, I plan on catching enough Pokemon to get Flash, and continuing on to the Rock Tunnel.
