Free Pokémon?

    In Generation 1 and their remakes we got a free Lapras and in Generation II and their remakes, you were given a free Eevee, a Spearow to deliver a letter and a Shuckle for some reason (something to do with a sissified trainer being threatened by your rival). Spearow and Shuckle were meant to be returned, but most of us kept those Pokémon for ourselves (they were just going to waste away with their original trainers anyway...). So do you think there will be free Pokémon in Sun and Moon? I hope so, some free Pokémon are quite strong.
     
    !!! You forgot to mention free Lucario and Latios/Latias, the ones in the more recent generations that I remember. Those ones were pretty powerful, I thought!

    Can't really say for sure, as we barely know any Pokemon, but we'll probably be given at least one, given this record.
     
    Just as long as we don't get handed a free legendary Pokemon again, I'm fine with anything.

    Although we probably won't get another free Lapras since it seems like we'll just be able to call a service one now. I bet the only reason we even got a free Lapras in X&Y was to make sure we'd be able to make use of the new surfing animation.
     
    The free legendary was so bs in ORAS. I mean it was so satisfying in gen 2-5 when you finaly caught that roaming legendary. But they ruined it by handing latios for free early on while it previously was a post game legendary.
     
    I'm pretty sure there will be gift Pokemon in S/M. Since the beginning there has always been NPCs for every Region who give you a free Pokemon, some more than others. It seems like lately the gift Pokemon have been stronger in comparison to the older games, perhaps that's something that will be the same for Sun & Moon?
     
    Gift Pokémon should/will definitely return in SM, but as far as gift Pokémon go, I don't think a legendary would be given out as a gift Pokémon this time because they'd gave out Latios/Latias in ORAS so all players could access the "op Latios/Latias & Latiosite." But I wouldn't be surprised if you would be given a Zygarde from all the hype it's been getting.

    I think we might be given out just a regular regional Pokémon, like Rockruff.
     
    I think we might get a Gift Alolan Pokemon, or something that evolves into one like Exeggecute.

    I think it is possible that we will get the Island Guardians as a gift, but it might also be unlocked after the game where we can catch them ourselves.

    I also believe it is possible we will get a Zygarde Core, or the ability to catch Zygarde at a later time.

    Unless there is something indeed special about Rockruff, I don't see why we would get one as a gift. Usually gift pokemon have new features or turns into something new. Examples, Lucarion and Lati, which mega evolves. Also Lati was for the Eon Flute. Lapras was to get us across the water and use its new overworld look. Sharpedo and Camerupt in ORAS also Mega evolves, and Sharpedo had a new overworld like Lapras. Eevee was never able to be caught in the actual wild until X/Y which is why we probably got it for free in a lot of games.
