So I played red and blue rescue team and explorers of sky and I really enjoyed both of them. I have been thinking about Gates to Infinity, but I saw you have a really limited choice of Pokemon you can play as and recruit so idk if it's not as good? I just want to know if it's worth buying/just as fun as the previous mystery dungeon game?

I recently bought it and am almost finished, so I can't say for certain how the ending will compare to the others, but it's storline so far is very unique and adorable. Sure, there's a limit on what you can play as but you get to choose. It still feels like Mystery Dungeon, but with it's own new elements just like when PMD 2 came. It's worth it if you want sonething not too different but newer feeling. It's a but more centered around a larger group than just you and your partner, kinda like XY so if you liked the rivals in that, y'know.....
But if you don't like too many characters together or spazzic(mostly your partner X3) characters then maybe wait for the next PMD installment.

But imo, it is defiantely as fun as the others. :3

I only played through Gates to Infinity once, and while there were definitely things I found to like about it, there were some annoyances. For one, if you think the amasses of dialogue in newer main series games since BW was a headache, you're gonna hate the fact that the text speed is super slow and you can't even speed it up by spamming A. Secondly, there's very little to do after the main story that you haven't already done with the previous games.

But there were still things to like, such as companion mode, so if you're curious i'd still give it a check.

I played the demo and thought it was shit. The zoomed in view and the abundance of gen v Pokémon really turned me off and the Magnagate features were boring. Then I read that it only had about 140 pokemon in it and got actively pissed off. Then I read the story up on Bulbapedia and started to question my sanity.

Good fucking god, what a waste of time.

    Alright so quick and short
The text is supeeeeeerrrrrr slow so u need patience!
Theres a lot of hard missions after the main story so if u want a challenge ;)
If u dont like unova pokemon dont get it
I personally love the storyline u should also give the other MD games a chance as well
Actually the storyline has a good amount of twists and ummm whats it called turns and a good length and theres actually a good amount of pokemon available just mostly unova.
So basically it depends on ur preference i personally loved it and would play it again any other time!

I'd totally recommend it! It might not live up to the others, but the graphics are adorable, the characters are awesome and the dungeons always look so unique and memorable. Even though they stretch on the dialogue a bit and you can't spam A to get it over with, that little con is irrelevant 'cause the game is so epic! It's worth whatever they charge 'cause it'll make you feel like an innocent little kid again, with all the lessons of friendship and the childish humour. xD

    And it's the only game in history that made me cry. ;~;

as an avid player of the series, i can safely say this game did not come to par with its predecessors. I am not saying that it was a failure, it definitely had good qualities. its story was alright, the graphics were great, and music was good too. When it comes down to it though, the limitations mentioned above that were added to the game cast a shadow over what the game really is. If you are a veteran of the series then you should be able to find the game fun despite its flaws. If not, you may have trouble experiencing what the game has to offer.

Thanks to everyone who responded! I think I'm going to hold off on getting this game for now.

They should have given you more starter choices and at LEAST included every Unova Pokémon as possible recruits

    Where's Terrakion and Cobalion?

I really hate battling against Black/White Kyurem, since you pretty much NEED to have seeds to lower their defense and boost your attack (the Dodge scarf/orb combo helps too) and you still end up doing laughable damage while their Dragonbreath destroys you

Although I love improving Virizion's Double Kick's accuracy and power to destroy everything, as well as Dunsparce's Rollout and Ancient Power

Companion Mode is a life saver, allowing for easy grinding and item hoarding during key missions, like the Glacial Palace

Gates to Infinity is my first PMD game. I've got 7 hours of gameplay so far. I started playing it with no preconceptions and an open attitude, and I'm really enjoying it.

Full 3D is pretty sweet. Storyline is fairly engaging. The dungeon-ing seems like it might get repetitive.
