Genetically Modified Food

They can be labelled, as people seem to care about that. As they do with organic.

Personally, I don't think it makes much of a difference. This has been happening for ages. Just has a scary name now.

Nectarines are peaches meet plums. Seedless watermelons. etc. Crossing a plant species with another is not uncommon.

After watching Penn & Teller's episode on organic food, as well as other pro-GMO videos, I can conclude that GMO is much safer to eat than organic food. Besides, we've been genetically modifying food for thousands of years now.

GMO's are fine for you to eat, you've been eating genetically modified or altered food all your life. Corn was originally inedible. Wheat was originally a weed, also inedible. While obviously the methodology has changed, from rubbing two stalks together in a field to gene splicing in a laboratory setting, the underlying concept and the science is still the same. There has yet to be a study that has found negative health associations with the eating of crops that have been genetically modified.

That being said, Monsanto being able to essentially copyright and own intellectual property rights for foodstuffs like apples is a very dangerous precedent, and it's one that hurts, economically, small farmers and anyone who isn't a corporate conglomerate like them, because Monsanto can sell seeds of their particular, modified product at premium prices. I think you can be anti-monsanto without being anti-gmo too.

I cant make a paragraph out of this but for me its no atm just cause i dont like chemicals and i do to think i want to ingest them more than i have to already. But although im against it i still end up eating them from time to time even if i dont want to.
