Since the 2014 FIFA World Cup kicked off June 12th, we have come to a close.

The most anticipated part of the competion: the finals.

We've got Germany, who steamrolled Brazil in a 7-1 match,

and Argentina, who had a close 0-0 game with Netherlands, eventually winning
    on Penalty Kicks.

Who would you like to win out of the two teams?

Honestly, I wanted a Germany-Netherlands game, with Netherlands winning it all.

However, since that will not happen, I will like Germany to win their 4th World Cup.

A Brazil-Argentina game for 3rd/4th game would be better, since they are both very
    great rivals.

Know how you feel. I really thought Van Persie or Robben would score Argentina up... I was really surprised about them going to penalties. I was more in shock to see Argentina win the match too... Netherlands should have switched goalies instead but oh well...

I'm pretty pissed off at Netherlands because they cheated Mexico out for nothing! Why couldn't Robben do a fake penalty goal on Argentina? Plus, Belgium was playing so good and beat USA (sobs) yet they lose to Argentina like amateurs. Man, I'm so mad right now yet happy at the same time!

Germany, this cup is officially yours. With players like Muller and Klose (think that's how you spell his name. IDK), Germany will massacre Argentina even worst than Brazil and Portugal combined! Go Germany! I know I have to support Argentina cause I'm latino but I'm not a fan of them. Call me a disgrace but Argentina really and always kicks Mexico's ass, so go Germany!

Plus, Germany has been playing good and got third place in 2006 and 2010, so they deserve the cup. Can't wait til Sunday! Support Germany folks!

Van Persie had the stomach flu, so they subbed him out. :( No Tim Krul.

Argentina has barely won practically all the matches they've had this cup. Considering how badly Brazil got beaten, there is no ♥♥♥♥ing way they're going to beat Germany unless the match is rigged.

I am for Germany, I just knew they'd get far! Too bad for Holland, I really wanted to see them at the finals.

Argentina has always sucked at football, and a few exceptional players from Argentina like Maradona, and Messi aren't enough to represent their football as a whole.

Germany usually is pretty arrogant and disciplined. If you break away the discipline, then what's there left for Germany? Plus, Argentina doesn't have Tevez, who is REALLY GOOD, he's at Disneyland with his family. Di Maria is back, a great player for Messi has to work with.

There's always a different game in soccer, one game; great, the other; bad.

I wanted Holland/The Netherlands to win as well!!! However, Argentina has good players such as Messi, as you described, Aguero, Higuain, and Di Maria. Argentina isn't a one-man-job team as other people think.

You missed Palacio, mate; however, my point still stands. Di Maria isn't as good as everyone makes him out to be. Idgaf that he's in Real Madrid. The dude's overrated.

Ah, sorry, he's not bad though, and helps out the team.

He's better than Palacio that's for sure, but both of them have been poor so far in the WC, no idea how Di Maria is on the Golden Ball shortlist. On an unrelated note, Enzo Perez has went unnoticed this tournament, he has been great in every Argentina game. Anyway in the wider scale of countries, Argentina produce good talent on a regular basis if we consider them relative to all other nations. Obviously rarely producing good defensive players hinders them a fair bit though.

Anyway to the point of the thread I'll go Germany 3-1.

Doubt you've ever seen Di Maria play if you think he's overrated. Mind you, nobody's saying he's the best in the world.

Out of all players in the top 5 leagues in the world, he's given the most assists. He might not score as much as say Ronaldo, but Ronaldo wouldn't score as much without him either... Di Maria was also the best player in the Champion's League final for Real Madrid.

He hasn't had a great World Cup, but that's more due to Argentina insisting on not playing football.

Tevez was not selected for the national team because he does not complement Messi and would potentially disrupt the atmosphere inside of the team. Sabella's hardly ever selected him.

I'd like Germany to win the World Cup. At least they try to play football most of the time...

Tough call despite the results in the semi finals. Argentina has been defensively disciplined throughout the tournament. Everyone expected their offense to shine and defense to let them down but what happened so far was the exact opposite. As a result most of their games were tactically oriented and made for a boring view. Messi was kept quiet last match as well, he doesn't seem to be as adventurous and dangerous as he was couple years ago at Barcelona's peak years (09-11). Di Maria showed flashes of brilliance but on the whole he was disappointing along with other Argentine forwards like Lavezzi and especially Aguero. Messi was also for most of the time virtually nonexistent as well, though Messi being Messi he contributed in vital moments to carry the team to the final.

On the other hand, Germany had their shaky moments too against Ghana and Algeria, though that could be explained by Low's inexplicable decision to shoehorn Lahm to CDM and Mustafi to RB, leaving out actual midfielders like Schweinsteiger and Khedira down to the bench. It seemed that he was forced to put Lahm back to RB to make way for the midfielders and they haven't stopped since. Germany do have a recent track record of choking at it late in the tournament, but we shall see if they're good enough to break that notion.

I still think Germany will nick this, but it'll be a close match, wouldn't be surprised if this heads to shootouts.

By the way does anybody even care about the third place match?

I think that Argentina will emerge victorious. Their team seems stronger than Germany currently, despite the fact that Germany humiliated Brazil in a 7-1 victory. Not meaning to go off-topic, but I don't believe that Germany played well in that match. Brazil's defence was poor, making it easier to score.
