[ Get Together / Halloween Haunt 2007 ] Battling tournament ~V2~

in the rules, what does it mean by species, just gatta make sure my team doesnt break any rules, another question is will it by lvl 50 lvl 100 or free?

Species clause means you can't use more than one Pokémon of the same species. e.g. A team of six Gyarados.

Also, what's 'status' clause? And Focus Band and King's Rock count as hax items, right?

Basically you can't apply any kind of status more than once, you don't want to see (lets say) a Blissey going on a Thunder Wave spree don't you?

Yes they do cause they rely on "luck"

OK. Thanks. But does that mean I can't, for example, paralyze one and poison another one either? Also, I don't think this counts for moves like Ice Beam, right?

What Lumine is saying about the status clause is you can apply any status to the opponent but you cannot apply the same status to another Pokemon on the opposing team. And I think it aplies for any status-causing attack. I think I just made it harder to understand.

You can apply "any kind of status" to any Poke as long as its only "once", but no I don't think moves like Ice Beam, Sludge Bomb, etc etc counts, well call that kind of luck "hax" lol

I think you said you can put any status any number of times, right? Just not two of the same (yeah, a little hard to understand).

But what if I have freezed a Pokémon, he switches, then I keep doing Ice Beam and freeze another one? Why am I asking this, though? It will never happen...

Yeh like you can't Thunder Wave a poke then do another Thunder Wave to different Poke of to opposing team.

Then that's what we call "hax" it is a possibility though.

I could have sworn that 'sleep clause' only applies to sleep specifically because that's really the most broken ailment in the game, and leaves the switchin completely vulnerable. A status like, say, paralysis or burn is pretty easy to counteract by switching in something immune and using these moves over and over make you predictable as pie, so isn't really that big a deal...but nothing has immunity to sleep inducers (I do believe, but can not say with certainty, that nothing is immune to Spore or Sleep Powder, effectively making Breloom the porn star of pokemon without sleep clause), meaning that minimum 1 pokemon will be incapacitated off the bat. And you could continue to launch sleep move after sleep move, thereby winning you the match by default as nobody plays well when their whole team is sleeped by fast or untouchable pokemon. As opposed to full on poison, or paralysis, which is more a mild annoyance than anything else.

But if it doesn't, all proverbially egg my face in due time.

Edit:
Competitive Standard said:
Sleep clause: This means that you can ONLY put one pokemon of your opponents to sleep at a time. If the opponent rests' then that is a completely different story. That DOES NOT count toward the sleep count

Unless we redefine the rules for this tournament, this is the accepted definition.

There is still room right??

You're forgetting about ability protection. Vital Spirit blocks ANY sleep-statuses (more Vigoroth-specific, yes, but still a valid point), and Early Bird, while not as effective, keeps the effect from lasting as long. I believe there are other abilities that do the same, as well...there's also the random Sleep Talk to essentially negate the effect.

Paralysis or poison, however...well, the only effect that comes to mind right now that takes advantage of those is Facade, but that's much less likely to show up. Don't even get me started on burn, either.

(((Sorry to go off-topic like that, but I just had to say it.)))

Well, that has some things missing. King's Rock or Focus Band are not on the hax list, for example. Also, I think Sand Attack can't be used either because of the Evasion clause. And, yes, that's what Sleep Clause means, but this tournament the status clause. That's why I was asking.

Sleep clause is within Status clause so I don't know why its there

Hmmm....if I happen to burn the opponent from hax, say from Flamethrower or Fire Blast, can I still burn another with Will-o-wisp? Or is it only allowed the other way around?

Good question !! I dont know sorry XD nah jokes

I'm guessing you still can, cause a burn from lets say Flamethrower is what we consider "hax" which doesn't really count towards the clause.

I assume you can use Will-o-wisp, and then use Flamethrower because you're not doing it on purpose the second time. But I don't think that what you said can work.

Hmm, another question I have been thinking about, heh:

If you inflict status on Blissey, Roserade, or Starmie, and they switch out, can you use the same status on another? XD

It's usually the case that these three have Natural Cure, but they all have a 2nd option. This has been bugging me for awhile, XD.

I guess so because they have already cured their status.
