4th Gen Gold comparison

I love the new version of Gold. Personally the bulky-ness wasn't working for me.

Gen I-II Style will be always better for me.
I liked even the Red and Blue revamped art. They were loyal to the original rendition, but now it's like Lucas is getting a new outfit, it doesn't look like the same character.

Well, since his hat is backwards, wouldn't it be that his hat was black in the front, and gold in the back? Just saying.

Good point.

Now, it had to have been known at some point that they might have modernized Gold when coming up with the remake. They did it in FRLG, so it shouldn't be too surprising. There are things that make the older Gold look better, while there are things that make the newer Gold better. You gain some, you lose some.

I don't know where people are getting the "WHY DOES GOLD HAVE A POKETCH LOL"

If you look closely, the thing on new Gold's wrist even has the ".S" logo on top of it.

They've also modernized the PokeGear as well, after looking at it in the scans. I agree, the Poke'tch and Gear is two different things. The 'Gear actually seems to come with more on Gold more than the older one.

Well, for anyone who still dislikes the new Gold, go take a gander at Lucas (DP &PT) and Brendan.

You will love the new Gold after.

Hey, Brendan "Sean" has one of the best player character designs (in Emerald, at least; it actually looked like he was going on an adventure as opposed to Ru/Sa-style artwork {which was OK, though}). :P

Regarding the HG/SS "Gold" redesign:
YES!!!!
:D I LOVE Jimmy/Gold's awesome redesign! I didn't want it to be just an artwork update of GSC Jimmy/Gold (like Ken Sugimori is doing with new Johto artwork of Gen. II Pokemon). I would've had to name myself Jimmy to match the anime! *sighes with relief*
I also like the fact that it doesn't blalantly copies the original design, yet it gives proper nods off to it (similar sweatshirt, hat, hair in front of head, etc.) Also, it's nice that Jimmy/Gold's new hat more closely resembles the Ultra Ball, referencing that HG/SS are most likely going to be "ultra"/ultimate Pokemon games! :)

At first, I was sort of iffy about the new Jimmy/Gold's pants cutting off at the knees, but they don't look so bad now. However, the undercollar is starting to bug me. It was OK until people started highlighting it! Now it does looks like overkill... :( But if you view it as just lines or marking on the sweatshirt, it doesn't look so bad. Lastly, now the little piece of hair spiking out in front of the head (of the redesign)actually looks like it's peeking out to say "hello"...? It doesn't really "blend in" with the rest of the redesign now, but I'll let it slide.

50/10 for the new Jimmy/Gold GSDS redesign! This is truly a wish come true... :t385: Keep up the nice work, Ken Sugimori! :)

About his shoes and no socks statement, the designers could have simply put on those "no-show" socks for the new Gold...It gives him the more modernized look as everyone says.

Hopefully, they would improved every other characters like they did with Gold.

Anyways, I like his hat and how his hair sticks out. I want his jacket.

The overall clothing and facial design I like the new Gold better. The clothing is more trendy and appealing and Gold's look makes you able to recognize him more (yes, he looks younger, but hey, in the games the main characters are supposed to be young). The only thing is the shorts since the new versions looks too tight on him.

The overall body structure though I like the old Gold better. The new version looks too skinny and as if he hadn't eaten a hamburger ever. ^.^;

I agree, he is supposed to look younger as his age is supposedly ten. I think they did a good job, and as I see it more, the pants begin to bother me less.

Personally I prefer the old art style and clothing. The new one isn't bad, but I don't care for the "more polished" type up look they are going for, and the big eyes bug me. I enjoy the old art, like in the gameboy instruction booklets and such.
