Gym leader horror stories

Oh crap, I'm an idiot. I remembered that fight completely wrong. Actually, now I can't remember HOW I beat him. I'll delete my posts. :/

Edit: NOW I remember what I did. I used Steel Wing to raise my Defense really high, so by the time I reached Slaking, it couldn't do much damage, and I was able to slowly whittle it down.

see even once you beat norman he's still a pain in the ass

Norman was easy, well if you have Blaziken by then, anyway. xD I one shot all his Pokemon.

My biggest Gym problem has actually been Gardena, cause I had a Piplup starter and no Pokemon that could defeat Grass types.. in this playthrough, I'm almost at her gym, get ready Gardena, this time I have a Piplup with Ice beam and my starter is a Chimchar that has evolved into his second evo. >_<

I would say sabrina in pokemon yellow, her whole team is at level 50 and it is sort of hard to get all of your pokemon at that level in such a short time. But I don't really struggle with gym leaders, just the elite four.

That, & the fact that the only Pokémon that has the type-advantage against psychics, also happens to be dual-typed with poison, which defeats Gengar's purpose in the first place. Because of that, the only way to combat Psychic-types is with your own Psychic-type. In other words, you'd have to fight fire with fire.

Anyhow, the only gym leaders that gave me those so-called "horror stories" that you speak of would be Whitney, due to Cute Charm/Attract & her Miltank, & Elesa, for her dual Emolgas being immune to ground attacks. Everyone else is just a stepping stone on my path to the champion.

Yes you are right but you are also forgetting about bug pokemon, they have a type advantage over psychic type, it's just unlikely for someone to have one at level 50.

Meh, I didn't anyway. It was a helluva fun battle. But I just used a Pelipper/Swampert, since they learn Protect naturally, and just used Protect when the Slaking weren't on Truant. Simple. Fun to watch though.

When I was younger, I thought that Wattson and the rival in Slateport were ridiculously hard. Same with Brawly, since his Vital Throw never misses, completely killing my Sand-Attack strategy. Of course, I figured out Magneton didn't have levitate (fail...) and the rival was... I used Sand-Attack again. Brawly wasn't too bad. The Gym Trainers gave me some nifty experience, so I was pretty well-rounded in terms of leveling and beat him easily. And you can skip Brawly, if you can navigate through the cave without Flash, which isn't too bad.

Arnt we forgeting brawly? without a tailow/torchic he's vvvery hard

You're joking, right? There's a bunch more that can put him in his place, that Brawly is just a helpless wimp, especially in the face of a Kadabra/Alakazam.

even a sharked team that inculded mewtwo, salamence and tyranitar still wasn't good enough for tate and liza or as i call them ''the angel's of death''

They weren't that bad. I used either a water-type with Surf, or a steel-type with Iron Tail. You could also catch an Absol, which I've been doing a lot recently. I remember when I first tried Tate & Liza on Emerald, I went fishing for about an hour to catch a Wailmer, then evolved it to a Wailord, then finally beat them (because my starter was Blaziken).

I had a little bit of trouble with Tate & Liza but not as bad as ben cousins, I just used surf like what psyanic
said and have the other pokemon use protect or fly.

Champion Blue on Pokemon Red. I had only raised my Charizard, and it worked just fine until I got to him. I remember that it took at least 4 months to beat him.

I found Clair really hard in SoulSilver, my Piloswine had a type advantage but fell to her Kingdra then I had to settle on using an underleveled Dewgong and managed to defeat her with it.

Drayden in Black was hard too, I was planning to use Gothitelle's Attract to disable him but she fell to his Druddigon. Samurott beat his Haxorus though.

I just find Dragon-type Gym Leaders really hard.

Elesa on Black slaughtered me. After I FINALLY beat her Emolga, she destroyed me with her Zebstrika. I had to train a few more levels before I could beat her.

Also, Morty and his Genger. Genger's Hypnosis would always hit and Genger would be free to use Dream Eater on my Normal Types. In SoulSilver, I trained an Aerodactyl from an egg and it outsped the Genger. Revenge is sweet.

I Vaguely remember Norman being hard... and almost everyone hates whitneys miltank but i dont remember that much of it. just ROLLOUT ROLLOUT ROLLOUT ROLLOUT ROLLOUT

I didn't have much trouble with Whitney's Miltank, maybe it was because I did a lot of grinding and I ended up a few levels above her.

I didn't have much trouble against Morty either, my Xatu was pretty strong.

As for Elesa, I beat all her Pokemon using only my Zebstrika (she's female and I did a combination of Attract and Flame Charge).
