Who are your favorite Gym Leaders and why? Do you like their designs or their Gym's designs? Do you like their typing? Anything else petty or simple that you enjoy? Do you like them for no reason?

Conversely, are there any Gym Leaders you felt just had no real point? Did they not stand out at all? Were they too easy? Anything petty?

I liked Sabrina actually. I liked how she was really creepy in the anime and how she was a psychic. I always thought psychic powers were cool when I was a kid. I remember I once had a dream that came true the next day and I pretended I was like Sabrina and predicted the future or something.

I can't really say there were many Gym Leaders I didn't like, but I thought Marlon really didn't need to be shoehorned into the plot of White 2. It's like "Hey we're chasing after this terrorist group that's threatening to freeze all of Unova and actually succeeded in one city, but you should really go beat this gym before we do anything!" and then afterwards he's like "Are you sure Team Plasma are bad?" and I'm like "I don't know, they froze a whole entire city and trapped all those people in their homes with no real way out and there's a chance they might all stave to death if I don't stop Team Plasma! What do YOU think?" It would have made more sense in the first game where it was more ambiguous at times as to whether Team Plasma had a good goal or not, but in the sequels Team Plasma is basically a flat-out terrorist organization, so it's not ambiguous at all about their motives. I think they should have taken Marlon out of the story and just saved the last gym for after the Team Plasma events.

Anyway, what do you guys think? What are your favorite/least favorite Gym Leaders?

Wow, that went on for longer than I thought it would.

Sabrina is my favorite too! The one from the games though, not the one from the anime--they're two very different characters. I don't even have that much of a reason behind it, I just think she's a really cool character. Jasmine is another favorite of mine, simply because she's such a nice person, and she seems to care a lot about Pokemon.

There weren't any gym leaders I actively disliked, but for some reason I didn't find any of the gym leaders in Kalos to be all that memorable :c None of them really stood out or made an impression on me (not even Olympia with her super cool gym).

I didn't think Marlon was that bad, but it was a bit odd that we had to go and battle him while Opelucid Town was still frozen solid :o Normally in the main series games, you don't fight the final gym leader until after you've put a stop to the villainous team's shenanigans. Other than that though, I actually thought Marlon was a cool character, and I love his gym's music.

To be fair, I can admit that the poor planning of the order of events wasn't really Marlon's fault. I'm pretty indifferent to him as a character in general and I thought his gym puzzle was sort of fun. I usually like when they have Gym Leader's in the story so you can get to know them ever better as characters. Maybe if they had him in since the beginning it would make more sense.

I think my other favorite Gym Leader has to be Roark. I don't know why. I just remember I really liked him back in 4th/5th grade when I first started playing Pokemon.

My favourite gym leaders simply have to be Elesa and Valerie. Elesa put up more of a fight than I thought against my completely unprepared team and Valerie uses my favourite type, fairy, and her eyes are just amazing. I could stare at them all day. My soul might slip away though :P

There aren't really any Gym leaders that I dislike. There are those I like and then there are those I feel neutrally about but I like them enough to not have anything bad to say about them. So I'll leave this relatively blank :P

I love all the Water Gym Leaders (my fave type, duh) and most of the cuter-looking female Gym Leaders. However, my all-time faves have to be Marlon and Elesa!

Lt. Surge has always been my favorite then again just about every electric gym is my favorite. :D

Do I even need to say?!

Wallace is my favourite Gym Leader of all time. He's amazing and very stylish. 8)

    CONFESSION TIME:

So, I may have had a teeny tiny crush on him way back in 5th grade. :P He was and still is one of my favorites (although I had Emerald where he was the champion, so I didn't count him as a gym leader in my original post).

    - Jasmine: So innocently charming and sweet gym leader, she is younger and same age as tate and lisa

-Koga: because I like ninjas :P

-Valerie & Elesa: both of them are elegantly stylish gym leaders

My favorite, I guess...the connoisseur crew back in Black/White, or specifically Cylan; his take on Pokemon battling like a meal is tasty. On the other hand, I really hate Ice-type Gym Leaders for their puzzles; they're annoyingly simplistic, or in the case of the Kalos Ice-type Gym Leader, annoying plain sight-ish.

Mine would be Liza and Tate. They were pushovers in Ruby and Sapphire because they only had Solrock and Lunatone (and were probably made with the purpose of adding a gimmick to a Gym Leader battle), but their combination in Emerald was quite challenging to beat. I like them because the challenge that the player has to overcome when battling them is drastically different from a regular Leader. Your strategy would have to be based on a double battle mindset, which may catch the player by surprise when meeting them for the first time. Basically, they forced you to adapt to their ball game.
