I finished two but its 3am so I'll resume later haha
Hello again JaDe! :D Your first map looks good so far - I would recommend adding some paths...
... This way you can see how they look up close!
For Task 1, I was thinking of it like a North/South route since that's how it's set up. Are you suggesting deleting some trees on the sides and make routes that head East/West?
For 2 and 3, are you wanting them to be continuous maps then? Should they flow into each other??
#HA2: Mapping
DATE 17/05/15 - DATE 31/05/15 - NEXT TIME: Scripting with XSE
You will need: Advance Map (1.92 or 1.95), a Fire Red ROM and the *image removed*.
This week, I have prepared three task maps for you to work with. Each one is properly labelled, you can find them overwriting the first few towns, in map bank 3.
TASK 1: Using the map 'base' provided, fill the map with decoration tiles and NPCs (Map 3.1).
TASK 2: Complete the town map, using the starting corner as a base, to fill the blank space. NPCs/Events not needed. (Map 3.2).
TASK 3: Design an ocean map around the existing person events. You may change their appearance and movement type but you may not move or delete them. (Map 3.3).
This week's #HA is a bit more complicated - in order to be awarded a trophy for your efforts you should:
Remember you can VM or PM me if you need a few pointers!
- Make sure your tiles are used correctly,
- Avoid tiling errors,
- Follow the above instructions carefully.
In order to have your maps checked, either upload a screenshot or upload an IPS patch for me to look at :).
Ok so took your advice and added some path tiles, and really just put a lot more effort into tasks 2 and 3 from what I had originally posted. If anything needs to be explained as to why I set up certain areas as I did, just let me know and I'll explain what I had in mind when making the maps :)
Your town map is looking pretty good, it's just the edges that need some attention really. Along the bottom you should put the tree tiles that are used to connect trees together - that way the border/map connection will be fluid rather than with a gap. Same with the mountains I mentioned to you, in a real game it'd look better to let them lead on to your next map. A few tweaks and its there, really.
The final map isn't so bad, but it's a bit dull compared to the others. It's very open and empty, with not much in the way of decoration.
This week's was a lot tougher than last week's.
"image removed"
My first HA week.
I hope it's sufficient because there is no more time to resubmit.
I'm glad you liked it ^^
And I'm definitely looking forward to scripting. I even think it's a shame that I have to wait a week to start the challenge.
Aha sorry - busy week at work, and since correcting and helping with scripting can get pretty busy I thought it best to give myself some time. I'll be up in time for the weekend :) perhaps Thursday evening or so.
Do you have any experience in scripting already?
Umm can I still join and if yes which tasks? The first week one or the recent ones?
Progress: [Good Start!]
For map 2 I touched up the bottom tree line and made the mountains look like there is a path up into them continuing off screen.
For map 3 I tried adjusting it a bit to have a little bit more going on without making it too crowded. If this still feels open and empty, I have a different direction I think I'd want to go with it.
Let me know what you think and I'll make any necessary changes.
Hope I did everything I needed to do.
I'm really, REALLY sorry I didn't get this in by the technical due date... But... I only just learned about this competition! I really hope you'll accept my Task 1 Entry. If I can I'll try and get the other 2 done as well.
Task 1 I basically got the idea of a Pokémon Reserve, A place which normal people are not allowed to enter without proper authority. They can however watch Pokémon feed on in the feeding area to the right of the map, if they so chose. The middle area with the watering hole is basically where these young Pokémon stay until they can fend for themselves in the reserve. The woman in front of the building would ask for your identification as a Pokémon Investigator, the bug catcher works there at the feeding area preparing the younger Pokémon's meal, the guard in front of the guard station would lead you to the area where the poaching happened. And you could also check one of the Pokémon for a clue.
I hope you enjoy it, I really wanted to make something for this as soon as I found out about it.
Edit: Sorry bout that, Managed to get it in the attachments. Should be fixed now.
