Contest: Hack-off II: Team Four

For a title, I like Pokemon Titanium Version, someone mentioned it in the skype - it's quite classical and isn't too specific and limiting. Any other suggestions?

Region name... Well, not so sure. We did so some brainstorming in skype but I can't remember what options we came up with.

Towns/Cities can be worked out last.

Have I missed any features?

If we are gonna use that island theme I think Amos will be a fitting name for our region.
(Amos means Sand in greek :D)

That B/W repel system is really handy indeed. It could be really handy for the players. I think we should implement that in our game to.

Sorry I haven't been on recently. I'm still not at a computer, so I've really been set back by a whole lot :( It looks like I'm going to have to get Skype on my phone and see where that takes me. Hopefully, it doesn't suck. Did you guys finalize anything yet?

IceFire, I know you really want us to work on Midnight Black for you, but no one's willing to make your hack for you, I'm sorry. Right now, we're all collaborating on making a hack for the whole team, not just for one person in the group. :)

Just an outline but thoughts? Centre island is where you start (tournament, etc.). The land to the west is connected by a small sand bridge, whilst the other islands would require surf/boat.

ALRIGHT! I got extremely tired of looking at this file, so if someone can carry my torch and insert a few things for me, that'll be great. Besides, I believe you guys wanted to insert BW2's Repel System and a evolution table. So... for a small bit, I'll let you guys chip in on the ROM Hack. This .zip file contains a LIPS patch for a clean ROM. There's also a file that has the locations of the few ASM routines I've inserted. Make sure to NOOOOOOOOT touch them. Thank you :)

Right, role call:

• Anonyboy, you're our one graphics-y person. Do you reckon you could knock up a titlescreen and ready for insertion? You also said you have tiles ready to go? Could you add them to the patch that Slashtiki uploaded a few posts above?
• Trenhoj, JaDe.X105 - Are you up for mapping the first town/route? We can do sketches if you want to plan it out before hand, perhaps you want to do one each... say now! :)
• Story writers, I'd love you to write a sequence of SHORT points to fill in with the story we currently have. Basically, I'm looking for pointers on how to script this when myself and JaDe get the ROM. Story for first event is simple

  You arrive to play in a tournament, have a battle or two, introduce a [SECRELTY EVIL CHARACTER], This is then ruined as the evil team swarm the place and steal everyone's pokemon.
• Scripting comes last, JaDe and I will cope between us I'm sure :).

I've rewritten the dialogue of the first event.
Here it is:

Dialogue
Player is standing on the victory road that leads to the tournament building. When the player walks a bit along that path there appears a text that says:
"You're finally here!"
After that a boy appears on the screen and walks towards you.
(He will be your rival)
Rival: It sure has been a long time. I can't believe time has past so fast.
One more person appears screen and wals towards you and your friend.
(This will be the pokemon professor)
Professor: Its good to see you two here. Did you manage to complete your pokedex?
Rival: My pokedex is almost complete professor.
Professor: Thats good to here.
Suddenly a text appears on the screen that says:
"Attention! Make some space! Future Champion coming trough!"
After that a boy appears on the screen. He walks towards ypu and your friends and says:
Boy: "Why arent you making space for me: the future champion!"
Rival: My friend (players name) is also competing in the tournament. I'm sure he can beat you.
Boy: "Alright (players name), Dont think you're the strongest because today I will take you on in the tournament and I will beat you!"
The boy walks away in the direction of the tournament building.
Rival: "What a jerk!"
After that a girl walks towards you from the same direction the boy came from.
Girl:"Did you see a person with black hair and a blue scarf?"
Rival: you probably mean that overconfident jerk that just walked away.
Girl: Oh, I'm sorry for his behaviour. Wait I didnt even introduce myself: I'm maryn and the boy that you just spoke to was alan.
Rival: you dont have to apologize. You can't help it that your friend is such a jerk.
Maryn: Dont say that. He really can be a nice person if you know him well. I gotta be going now, bye!
Maryn walks away in the direction of the tournament building.
Rival: I think you should be heading for the battleground now (players name). If you dont get there in time you will be disqualified.
Professor: I wish you succes with your battles.
Professor and rival walk away in the direction of the tournament building.
(Player is now free to walk and is obviously going to the tournament building)
When the player enters the building:
A girl you dont know walks towards you:
Girl: Hey, I'm one of your biggest fans and because you're such a great trainer I wanted to give you something.
Player obtaines a briefcase
Girl: its a secret whats inside but you can only open it after the tournament. I should be going now but I'm sure we'll meet again.
(Girl walks away)
Suddenly the player will hear some kind of bell ring.
(The kind of tune you here before a intercom anouncement)
Intercom: Attention, the trainers that are in the tournament must be heading for the battleground now.
(Player is free to walk now and is obviously gonna walk to the battleground)
When the player walks onto the battleground his opponent is already waiting:
Opponent: "You're going down!"
(Battle begins and the tutorial mambo jambo will be explained. We have to make sure that the player will win this battle)
After the battle:
Intercom: The final battle will be players name vs Alan!
Opponent walks away and the players final opponent (Alan) walks onto the battleground:
Alan: Now we'll see who off us two is the better trainer!
(Battle starts. We again have to make sure the player wins this battle)
After the battle:
Alan: No way! This cant be possible!
(He runs away)
After that your rival runs onto the battleground and towards you:
Rival: You did it! You've become the new champion! Come on, lets go see the professor.
(Rival runs away)
(The player is free to walk now and is obviously gonna walk to the tournament hall)
When the player gets there the professor walks towards him:
Professor: Well done (players name). When I first swa you I knew you had the potential to become such a strong trainer.
Suddenly a text appears: "Help!"
Rival:"What was that?! It's coming from outside. Lets take a look!"
The rival and professor walk to the outside
(Player is now free to walk and is probably gonna walk to the outside)


When the player goes outside he will encounter the evil team. But I'm not yet done with that part so that part is still in the make.
But how do you like this dialogue so far?

My Idea of the evil team:

I guess we could name the team anything we want but I prefer the name team chaos.
And this is what I had in mind:

Team chaos is a team that loves the nature and they are building on a machine with the abillity to destroy all the technology in the world.
Reason: because they think technology is screwing up our world. They think technologie is only resulting in war and they dont want that to happen. So they are building a machine that will destroy everyone on earth exept for their team members so they can live together in peace without technology. The only downside of this plan is that the pokemon wont survive that destruction only team chaos members will survive. What do they need for the weapon: the power of nature. How will they get that power? They gonna try to capture celebi in order to use his power. They are also gonna need electricity so we could make an event by the power plant of the amos region and they're trying to steal the electricity and then the player will try to stop them.

I think this idea fits really well into the theme.

Sorry about the double post, but that sounds great! What I was thinking is that we could shake it up a little bit,and have the leader of team Chaos be a female leader instead of every other hack having a male antagonist. Its up to you :)
