Happy Chri-HOLIDAYS!

Jesus' birthday isn't exactly on Christmas, most people believe he was born around September.
He was born in mid Spring.

Rudolf came from an old store jingle :3
It got THAT contagious XD

Did you even read the first post in this thread? Please do so before posting next time, 'kay?

Anyway, being Roman Catholic, I totally agree with you guys. Christmas has lost it's meaning... as did Easter... and now it's just for the consumer's market. <<;

Paul-- My physics teacher already has plans to shoot Santa... XD

And guys, don't turn this thread into any kind of religion-bashing thread. If that starts to happen, we may need to close this. ><;
Don't worry Ashley, this isn't going to be a flame war ;D And thanks for pointing out that kid's post <_<; Because you saved me the trouble XD

Anyways~ we should all make shirts with "Christmas - Don't take out Christ" written on them <33

I think I'll do that actually ._.

well, on the bright side, christmas makes people feel closer to each other, to amend mistakes, to reconciliate, even to end conflicts, but christmas has been far too commercial lately...

If someone makes a cool picture to go on it, I bet we can have it made at web cafe <3333

Edit: Who is bashing religions O_O we are all defending Christmas <3333
I never said anyone was doing it... I just said not to let it happen~

Paul-- You're welcome. ;D

Dr. Linoone-- Not just lately... as long as I've been alive, Christmas has been pretty much a strictly commercial holiday. It's just that as time goes on, it's getting farther and farther away from it's true meaning...

Good ^____^

Another thing that makes me mad is people not getting real trees (ONLY when there is no reason NOT to get one other than mere laziness)

But yeah, I hope we fix this unjustice

I was so going to start a thread like this.

It not only disturbs me but ticks the living dayouts out of me. I am stick of hearing "Happy Holidays", what Holiday are they taking about? Is Lincoln's Birthday the holiday they are talking about?
All I hear from people is "It offends me to hear "Merry Christmas", all I got to say is "You people offend me". And show me where it says "You have the right to not be offended". I'm a Christian (I'm Baptist) so when people take Christ out Christmas it's pisses me off. Jesus is the reason for the Christmas season. Now it hasn't got to were they will take out mangers and everything Christ and leave other stuff. But it has gotten so far that kids can't have Santa toys in schools, no classes can hang up Santa cut-outs, and it has even gotten as bad as kids can't wear both read and green (like a red and green shirt) to school around Christmas time. People that works at stores can't say "Merry Christmas" because some places has fired them over it (sure they were warned saying you can't say it, but that's not the point). It's done went past the "Do away with Christ" part (to me Santa is fine for little kids, but when I was a kid I did think there was a Santa. But at the same time my parents did teach me the real, true meaning of Christmas) and it has gotten to the "Do away with Christmas" ways now.

Now like Blaze said, people does it and says "Happy Holidays" because it's going to offend people. Ok so it offends atheists that we say "Merry Christmas", well they can go jump in a lake. The US was founded on Christianity, what is so wrong with taking a that one day out of the rest of the year to celebrate Christ (all the Holidays we got is Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving, the other 362 days has nothing going on or other Holidays like Veteran's Day, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa etc going on).

I just think it's sad that it'll "offend" a few atheists when the US is made up of like 75-85% Christian (or something along them lines, it might be 75-85% believe in some Religion). The fact is most people believe in a higher power, just different Religions. It's just a small group of people that wants it gone. And most of that 15-25% that's left doesn't really care. As in they think saying Merry Christmas is fine.
And in Gov stuff it all falls under "The Separation of Church and State", they use that term that isn't anywhere in the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution. But people use it to take Christmas stuff off of Gov places.

Over all I think it's sad that every place you turn they are removing Christmas. Not only the Religious part (well for some time that's been gone) but the whole thing itself. All because it offends a few people, and we just can't have something like that. I am glad that the Capital did change the name of it's tree, it was called a "Holiday Tree" but they did change it to it's rightful name, a Christmas Tree. If enough people stand up then I do think things will start to roll back a little to the way it used to be (Where you won't get a shock because you say "Merry Christmas").

I know I ranted, but I'm good with ranting. XD

yeah, but it's gotten worse lately, the good thing is that many people still remember christmas' true meaning and keep the real tradition alive, I just hope people like those can change all the commerciality

Well, now we've gotten to the point where Christmas isn't even politcally correct, even as a commerical holiday-

New thought:

How is it that they stamp all religon out of Christmas...and then suddenly it's TOO religous to be used by name?! "Dear, I bought our holiday tree tonight!"

Andy I love you XDDD

Stores should go to Hell, The reason for Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus, not to try to take advantage of the holiday to make as much money as possible.

*hates atheists*

Sooner or later the govt. has got to realize that we are a christian country, and our religious freedom is being opressed if we are forced to saying generic sayings

well, I got an answer for that, people are afraid other religion's members might get mad because their religion is not cared about or something like that, with all the conflicts coming from religion nowadays, too bad

First they squeeze the religious aspect out of Christmas, and then they try to stamp out what's left of the holiday. Pointless.

I totally beat you Andy ;D Actually, I was surprised this thread wasn't here earlier~

...

Commercialists idea of Christmas makes me sick. D:

Wow only 3 holidays, do we seriously need to make a generic name for it?

AND ONE ISN'T EVEN A REAL HOLIDAY XD

*boycotts Wal-Mart*

We don't hate anyone~ We dislike their opinions. But I don't bother with that, simply because I don't believe atheism exists.

And everyone should already be boycotting Wal Mart XD GO TARGET!

I'm actually pleasantly surprised that you all are on this side of the argument; I thought I would be the only one thinking this way. My main problem with the replacement of the word "Christmas" with the word "holiday" (besides the fact that it's offensive to my deeply-held religious convictions) is that the people who do it have absolutely no reason to. It's mainly part of the ongoing and stealthy war on Christianity by militantly-secular organizations that use their incredible wealth and army of lawyers to crush smalltown America underfoot. And why? Just because they can.

This is so because they demonstrate outright intolerance. It is irrational for someone, especially someone who practices no religion at all, to be offended by not ALL religious observations, but ONE in particular. They don't like the prevalance of Christianity in public culture, therefore they think they can eradicate it in the name of political correctness. Note that Menorahs are not called "holiday candelabras", or any official object for Kwanzaa, Tet, Ramadan, or any other holiday. Just Christmas.

Yes, this was brief for something so important to me, but it's only an opening statement. I plan to prove my point mainly by adding on to other peoples' points (or combatting them if need be.) Though, it would be nice if this didn't have to be a debate and we all had consensus that Christmas is under attack <_<;

Yay for Andy rants~! <3 XD

I agree about the atheist thing... no offense to anyone who is, of course. ._.; I just find it somewhat insulting that they can push their views about being anti-Christmas on us, when we can't be pre-Christmas without someone being "offended". A lot of my friends at school are either atheists or "relaxed" Catholics( aka agnostics basically...), as they call themselves. Even though they don't believe in Jesus as the son of God or religion, I still hear them talking about buying Christmas trees and celebrating Christmas. Why celebrate a holiday for a religion you don't believe in? It's because it's been turned into a commercial holiday and nothing more...

I don't see why all of a sudden we need to change the name of Christmas trees and everything else, just because a few people claim to be offended by it...

MB-- The US isn't a Christian country, not solely. Sure most of the people that founded it had strong religious beliefs, but that's changed a lot. And don't say you hate atheists... that's what causes all these religious debates in the first place. ><; You should respect people for their beliefs~

Edit: Thank you Paul <3
