I can't imagine all the problems people will have when their Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games Internal Batteries start to die.

Looking at my Diamond cartridge, It looks like something you wouldn't want to open unless you were really desperate to fix... It has no screws. Looks like when the internal battery runs out. Your screwed. Buy a new copy. But thats just my guess.

Lets hope it dosen't happen for a very long time..

My Gold killed my saved game after about 450 hours. After figuring out what happened, my dad was able to put a new battery in.

    Hopefully that doesn't happen again.

I stopped playing silver 'cause I didn't want the disappointment of trying to play it one day and nothing happens, but i caught a mareep and named him electroman, and I'm midway through getting a quilava on diamond, so my team'll be complete, with added glaceon!

My Gold's battery died just recently. I was stunned when I saw just New Game and Option.

That trick doesn't work, so don't bother.

I get paid 5 bucks per battery I fix in old games,

    I used to at least.

My friends had this problem, like 10 of them, and I had the tools already to open up a game.

With a simple task of breaking a weak spot weld, you take off the metal tab holding down the Battery, and replace it. (these batteries are commonly used for hearing aids, buy em at home depot)

Once you replace it, I would just use scotch tape to hold the tabe down snugly, and reclose the cartridge.

    50 bucks from this.

Thanks for the tutorial Brien, I'll remember that (though I hope I'll never have to use that knowledge!) :)

    No problemo,

It is quite easy, the hardest part is opening the actual cartridge without stripping the screw

You can purchase the tools to do so easily on sites like Play-Asia.com, but I only reccomend buying them if you intend on using them ALOT.

aka, dont buy them unless your dedicated to your game/ find a tool locally.

I remember playing Red version with my friend. After beating it, we wanted to move onto the gold and silver. I was so sad to find out that our games didnt save. We thought it was coincidence so we tried to play again and after my 2nd time didnt work, I researched it. I was so sad to find that the batteries died. Our pokemon journey ended =(

None of my game batteries have died yet. Mind you, I haven't checked gold in a long time, but a friend played my silver version recently and it was fine, and Crystal was too since I played a bit of that last year.

I assume when they do die, I'll just find a ROM and use that should I want to play the games again. :(

My crystal version works perfectly fine.
I think that happened to my Brother's silver version, though.
