4th Gen HeartGold/SoulSilver Speculation

It depends on how you look at the term cross-breeding really. I mean right now you can say we have the capabilitites of cross breeding if you look at it in the way that Totodile and Mudkip can breed together for example. Though, in a reference to making new typing and new Pokémon I doubt that might really ever happen. The reason being is because then there would be endless possibilities to what can be bred and endless new types as well. It'll just be too much and really defeat the concept of Pokémon as a whole. Though, if you're talking about more Pokémon being able to breed with others, then yes, I would say there is a possibility for it in the future. Not in HeartGold or SoulSilver though, because this is just a remake and not a new generation as yet. You see, more things are going to be kept closer to the originals and they aren't really going to change anything to something new that isn't necessary or that will alter the game as a whole or part. So, basically to answer this, it'll really decide on how you look at it as cross-breeding can be defined in more than one way.

It won't be in this series of games as mentioned above, it seems possible for the future. I think it would be too drastic of a change for this game. Will it happen in the future? Unlikely but its a cool idea.

Same Old Stuff... Never Ends?

So, I was thinking, do you think they'll have the same Daycare? Do you think it'll have something new to it, or the plot will be involved (such as having an exclusive Pokemon)? Discuss.

I think that it's going to be the same as it always has been. I really don't see the whole 'mix-breeding = slight birth differences' thing happening :/ I just wish they would bring back the old feature where you could see the Pokemon you put in there ("roaming" on the other side of the fence). That would satisfy me ^^

Obviously the Daycare will be there...placing it somewhere else is just pointless.
I'd really like for the 50:50 shiny egg to come back as well, but that may not be so.

Everything needs to be the same...just with other good features and even out the Pokemon so there's no UU or OU Pokemon...

Threads regarding the Day Care/breeding merged.

I don't believe we would actually see any new breeding patterns between Pokemon - one already has the ability to breed different species of Pokemon and all. Then again, judging by the notched-ear Pichu...well, there's an inkling of a chance another breeding update of some sort may happen - which would be fitting since GSC was the first game with the whole breeding thing. But I personally doubt it at the moment.

Don't see much changing with the Day Care centre either, although it may be bigger than before, perhaps, and I'm curious to see if the Odd Egg gets in or not.

Even with the new Notch Eared Pichu, I would doubt we'd be able to breed another one. I think GameFreak would rather keep it a unique Pokémon and away from being bred into another Notch Eared Pichu. I'm not saying it won't be able to breed with other Pokémon though, but it'll more than likely come out as a regular Pichu. Plus, if we were to breed other Pichus like this one, then I'd assume the event for it would be kind of a waste when they could rather just make all the new female Pichus have a notched ear. Anyway, this is basic speculation of what I think. Though, I'd like it for them to keep the Notch Eared Pichu unable to make new ones as I'd rather it to stay unique compared to the rest.

As for the Day Care Center, I don't see that going anywhere either. Though, I do see it getting larger and maybe allowing us to see our Pokémon in the back again. I liked this feature and it was kind of sad they took it out of DPPt. As for the Odd Egg, I don't think they should take it out. It was mentioned in Hearthome City of DPPt that eggs were discovered in Johto and is speculated to come from two Pokémon breeding. So, to keep up with that, I would think the Odd Egg given to us would stay. Plus, it is like a classic of the original.

I really cannot wait for these games. When I saw the news on another forum, I thought it was some kind of joke but NO! Gold & Silver were always my favorite games from the series and it's going to be amazing seeing them remade and bought up to modern standards. I also think the Pokemon and starters in G & S were some of the best so I am pretty hyped for the remakes :D

Changes to the original

new things added to the original G/S/C games: boy/girl players. the starter follows you. new items, full restore dawn stone etc. sinnoh pokemon. hoenn pokemon. D/P/PL pokemon storage. hopefully, item storage. touch screen pokegear. and of course, NEW SPRITES YAY! if you know anything else they're adding, post it. I know all this cos i was on serebii.net the other day and saw screenshots. and just out of random thought who likes fire types!? I DO! p.s. cyndaquill rules!

oh yeah they will be adding new proper berry names. my first game was pokemon emerald and then i found gold and silver at a junk shop and i bought them. and it was realy annoying walking up to a tree and getting a psncureberry istead of pecha berry or przcureberry instead of cheri berry. and berry instead of oran berry or sitrus berry. but that would interfere with the sick miltank thing. oh well we'll fore it to eat oran berrys!

hold on look at my avatar, there's an evil infernape in my closet! Infernape: AAAAY AYYY GAAAH!

Shiny Egg?

Insert random filler here.

I don't see any reason that it shouldn't be in HGSS. The new games will probably have everything Crystal had anyway, since they probably won't make a Crystal remake, so the shiney egg seems like a no brainer.

Merged topic on the Odd/Shiny egg here as it is speculation.
Can someone explain? I never played crystal =P
In Crystal, when you first arrive at the Day Care centre they give you another Pokemon egg. This one however would hatch into one of the new 'baby' 2nd gen Pokemon (e.g. Elekid, Cleffa, etc), which would know Dizzy Punch, and had a 50% chance of being shiny. Usually known as the Odd Egg.

I never actually think that my Odd Egg was shiny, but I don't remember playing Crystal that much either. They should have the Odd Egg, but I don't think they'll have the same percentage rate of it being shiny.

You know, in DPPt, I believe they brought back this feature of every egg having the 50% chance of the Pokémon hatching as a shiny. The Odd Egg has a pretty nice probability of making a return to the remakes even if it was a feature from the old Crystal version. I think it wouldn't be a bad idea either as it was pretty fun to see what your baby Pokémon might end up hatching into. I remember getting mines, except I don't exactly remember what it hatched into. I believe it was a Magby, but it never turned out as a shiny sadly. I say even though it's part of Crystal it should definitely make a reappearance to the game as it has a bit of suspence to the game and mystery as well. It was definitely something different than what we are always given these days and can add in to be a nice twist on top of it all.

EDIT: I did a bit of research and it turned out that in DPPt, hatching an egg wasn't given the 50/50 chance for a shiny Pokémon. Though, it is still a mystery on whether or not they'll bring back the Odd Egg and if it'll keep its 50/50 chance of hatching as a Shiny like it was in Crystal.

...I don't believe so - it's the same chance as any wild Pokemon of being shiny when encountered normally... =/ It was really only in Crystal in that instance, I believe. *Has hatched many a Pokemon in DPPt*

WHOA!!! SLOW DOWN, DRATINI!!!

In Pokemon Crystal,
after beating Claire & finishing the "Dragon user test",
The Dragon master gives you a Dratini that knows the move ExtremeSpeed.
Who think this'll be in HG/SS?
I hope so, Dragonite could use a advantage or 2 or 3 or 10 over Salamence....

Pssh I wish they did bring it back. I've hatched a lot of eggs in Diamond, and a few in Pt.
