The site went down not once, not twice, not three times...but four separate times today.

This is completely unacceptable and needs to be addressed. I was in the middle of trade discussion and we were abruptly cut off by the downtime. I hope the other user is still online.

UPDATE: Ironically, I had ANOTHER heavy lag period while posting this very thread!

Downtime was once an everyday thing here at PC. Just be glad that it only happens very sparingly, and today's downtimes just seem to be a very isolated incident.
Perhaps, but it's just worth noting that it was very prevalent today. And mid-trade - twice in the same trade, to boot - is not a good experience. LOL

It's been that way for most of the day today, and I can understand it's pretty frustrating. xD All I can say is be patient, and don't "refresh" the page many times as it can cause an extreme overload. I'm positive that this issue will be resolved by our very own site admin. :)

I understand your experience was ruined by this, but as Zach already said, this isn't a common occurrence like it once was. Not sure what happened today.

But with that said, I want to address your tone.

There is no need to sound so demanding. I get that the lag is annoying, but there's not much we can do about it to just bring the forum back to life as soon as possible. That's all on the server, and as I mentioned before, the issue is much better than it has been. But you don't see everyone else in CQ&F making a mountain out of this, do you? So please don't. :/ Everyone was affected. You're not the only one. If you're going to post a concern in here, please don't make it sound so (I hate to say it) self-centered. Thanks.

It's impossible to control the down times, as they are reliant on when the server is overloaded. When it goes down is never going to be when it's convenient for you unfortunately, and you should be glad it's nowhere near as bad as it once was. Seriously it was really bad back when I joined.

I wonder if one of the staff was doing name changes during the day again.. or some other adminy thing that tends to lock the db tables... That would cause the lag we saw today.. long page loads / timeouts.

It could have also been a ddos attack or just too many people trying to load / post at the exact same time.. its the internet, stuff happens.

We'll also be having a maintenance overnight to upgrade the db server.. that may also help limit these lags in the future.

Sorry, no tone was intended. This is just from a user standpoint. I've been here a while, so I know it doesn't happen all the time. However, newer users coming in see right away all the lag from today and decide to never come back. Those are lost users.

So yeah, sorry if I sounded "demanding", and once in a while is fair enough (hey, things can happen, I know that). I don't constantly refresh, though I do try once or twice as sometimes my own system lags loading something. After that, the "server problem" page comes up and I figure all right, check in five minutes.
