Forever hunting shiny Vulpix T_T

    Hello everyone!
    I am Maria.
    I have been playing pokémon since Red & Blue, but am however new to everything regarding online pokémon communities!
    I have recently started shiny hunting, and would love other players to talk (and sometimes brag) to about everything pokémon! ^^
    I am not a competitive player, but play for the fun of it.

    Currently I am working on finishing my Hoenn pokédex, which is a first for me, since I have actually never completed a dex before xD (I feel very inexperienced!)

    Welcome to PC! Shiny hunting is a difficult task so I wish you luck in your endeavors to do so and also in completing your PokeDex. It's really nice here so I hope you enjoy yourself. Glad to see someone who has been playing since the beginning as well like me. What's your favorite Pokemon?

    I have high hopes for this place ;)

    @Rhajat; I have already caught several shinies, but using simple methods like chain fishing or horde hunting. So far I have yet to meet one using the DexNav!
    I always feel like it's so difficult to actually choose a favourite pokémon! I think my most nostalgic pokémon (and thus one of my favourites!) is Parasect (and of course Paras). It is one of my absolute favourites from gen 1, and everytime I play the old games I just can't have a team without it! ^^
    Other than that I really love Aggron and Espeon, but who can really choose?!
    Do you have a favourite? :D

    Wow, nice work! Funny enough, I never ran into a truly random shiny Pokémon until Gen 6! Chances are so low lol. My favorite Pokémon is Squirtle! Always been a big fan hehe.

    I never actually knew about shinies until maybe a year ago? Because, as you say, chances are low and I've never actually encountered one randomly xD And then I started following some pokétubers, and realized there was so much more to the games than just beating the gyms and elite four! I only shiny hunt for the fun of it; it's a really good time killer when binge watching some shows ^^

    Squirtle is absolutely one of my favourites too! I originally got the Blue game, so I have always played with Squirtle! Plus turtles are my favourite animals, so what's not to love?! :) A few years ago I went to Japan to attend university, and had the chance to visit a pokémon store (which we do not have where I live), and of course I had to purchase a Squirtle plushie! I had no other choice ;)

    I didn't know about them until about five or six years ago myself after seeing stuff online too! There is so much more to this game than what appears on the surface.

    That sounds absolutely wonderful! We don't have those here either. I've never even left the country but that's fairly common in the United States.
     
    Hey there, Maria! I hope you enjoy your journey into completing the Dex. It is such a rewarding experience. I recently finished my project of having a living Dex and the feeling is oh so amazing.

    Shiny hunting is also pretty interesting too, it's something I'm trying to do as well. Are there any Pokemon you are trying to shiny hunt currently? Anyways it is very nice to meet you and I hope to see you around the forums! ^^
     
    Hello and welcome! I just caught my first shiny Ralts yesterday via dexnav! It can be tedious but definitely worth it, using the dexnav that is. :D

    I think I've seen you on the PC Discord chat before, no? I'm glad to see you're enjoying yourself here, and I hope you've managed to make a little more progress in your dex-completion quest! It's become such a task these days to get it done, especially with all the event-exclusive Legendaries and the like...it'll make it that much more satisfying when you do finally get there, to be sure.

    @Archy: I never really cared about the dex either, but lately I decided I'd finish at least the regional one (let's face it, the national will take me forever), and I'm really enjoying it!
    I'm really enjoying this place already; so far, so good :) Nice to meet you!

    @Lapis: I'm really looking forward to completing it! I'm currently at 148 caught, so there's still a way to go, but as long as it's fun, I'll continue!
    Actually I'm hunting several at the moment. It all depends on my mood, and how much "effort" I want to put in it; don't get me wrong, it takes effort no matter what! But there's a difference in method of course! I'm trying to hatch a shiny Eevee using the Matsuda method, as well as cathing a shiny Staryu and Vulpix. So far no luck, but I'm glad to say that shiny Wailmers definitely exists; I've caught plenty! Lol.

    Yeah, it's a time-consuming task, completing the dex. So I'm just starting out with completing the regional dex, and saving the national dex for a later time!
