To start things off, why not consider signing up for the Adoption Center where you can get paired up with a helpful mentor who can show you around the forums, recommend the best places for you to post and also teach you about the rules and such. Also, your mentor could be a potential new friend and it's always never bad to make a new friend since it'll definitely make you want to stick around.
