How often do you get hiccups? How do you/others around you react to your hiccups?

My hiccups are super freaking annoying to me because they sound stupid and they make my stomach hurt really bad. My husband thinks they're cute but I hate them. The only thing that ever helps is holding my breath for as long as I physically can, breathing out, holding it again for just as long, breathing out, and holding it, then continuing to breathe like normal. I guess my heart rate speeding up helps end the whole process? I dunno. I feel like I get hiccups anytime I drink something out of a straw. Sometimes just laughing too hard will give me hiccups.

Which sucks since I'm surrounded by you goofballs all day long

I hate getting hiccups which thankfully isn't too often. I find gurgling water helps for me.

i haven't had hiccups in months and mysteriously only like 10 hours after seeing this thread i have hiccups.

I get hiccups oh, once a week? Apparently my hiccups are really loud and I can't stop them no matter what I do. Drinking water, holding my breath, doesn't work. Luckily they seem to fade away pretty quickly, so it doesn't really bother me that much unless it's the occasional painful, somewhat violent, set of hiccups.

I get them occasionally, not too often. It's been a few months since I had any at all.

I remember hearing somewhere (might have been on TV) that supposedly the best way to get rid of hiccups is to just stop thinking about them. And that seems to work for me. Most of the time. It's hard to stop thinking of hiccups when I have a bad case of them, admittedly. :T

It sounds and looks stupid but plugging your ears and chugging water works
